Aberystwyth Town FC are delighted to learn that Park Avenue is currently the best attended ground in the Welsh Premier League this season, with an average crowd of 567 since it reopened to the public in October. This puts Park Avenue ahead of Bangor City's Nantporth (ave 547) and Rhyl's Belle Vue (411), and means that for the first time ever Aber can make a claim to be the best supported Club in the Dafabet WPL. Park Avenue's Bumper Attendances to date have been: October 14th Rhyl 1168 October 23rd Llandudno 548 October 29th Airbus 352 November 5th Gap Connah's Quay 235 November 25th Bala Town 530 Aberystwyth Town's Marketing Manager Tom Bates said: "Our Marketing Team have been doing some excellent work to promote the Matches but huge credit must go to our fantastic supporters, who have turned out in their hundreds to support the Club and the new 3G Development this Autumn. As we enter a crucial stage of the season we want our fans to realise that they can make a huge contribution to a successful season by turning up to cheer on the Black and Greens over the Christmas and New Year period." You can join the hoards of people flocking to Park Avenue as Town have four more home matches before the split as follows: DECEMBER 2016 Tuesday 20th BANGOR CITY (ko 8pm) Monday 26th NEWTOWN (ko 1.30pm) JANUARY 2017 Saturday 7th CEFN DRUIDS (ko 1.30pm) Saturday 14th CARDIFF MET (ko 5.15pm) Six months ago the Euro 2016 Tournament kicked off in France, providing an unforgettable experience for Welsh Football Supporters.

Aberystwyth Town FC is proud to congratulate Oliver Fairbrother, Harri Horwood and Jack Rimmer, who have been selected for the Welsh Under 18 Academy Representative Squad Training Camp, to be held this weekend near Cardiff.
All three players represent Aber Town's Under 19s side in the Welsh Premier Development League (South), and Oliver and Jack have also appeared for the First Team this season. Ollie kept for goal for the First team in a pre season friendly at Caernarfon, and appeared in a cameo role as a striker in the Nathaniel MG Cup defeat at Haverfordwest, while Jack has made a number of sub appearances in midfield since returning from a loan spell at Penrhyncoch earlier in the season. The Club congratulates Oliver, Harri and Jack on being selected and wishes them all the best for the Camp this weekend. For three of the past four seasons, Aberystwyth Town have come up against Holywell Town in the Welsh Cup. On both previous occasions, the Cymru Alliance team proved to be tough opposition, requiring a goal down to win in 2013 and a penalty shootout victory in 2014. Saturday proved no different as a resilient Wellmen side came to Park Avenue. Although much credit must go to the team from a league lower, Aber produced a professional performance as they secured progression to the fourth round with a 2-0 victory thanks to first half goals from Kurtis March and Luke Borelli. “I’m delighted to be in the next round. It was always going to be a difficult game for us as Holywell are a decent team. We were in a no win situation today. We were expected to win but if we didn’t it would be seen as a disaster” Manager Matthew Bishop told Aber Town Reporter Matthew Wallace at the end of the game. Despite progression, the boss still sees avenues for improvement for the Seasiders. “I was disappointed with the performance first half. We were far too open for my liking. We lost a bit of shape and discipline. We were better second half, there are still areas for improvement.” “We discussed a lot at half time and we were better second half. It almost turned into a basketball game at the end where we attacked then they did. There were spaces as a result but we didn’t take the chances.” Aber created a whole host of chances with Chris Jones, Luke Borrelli, Geoff Kellaway, Luke Sherborn, Will Bell and Blake Davies all going close for the Black and Greens. “We could have won the game more comfortably, we created plenty of chances but credit to Holywell for sticking to their chance. Geoff and Luke are frustrated in the dressing room as they could have had a couple more today.” With Saturday’s game against Bangor succumbing to a frozen pitch in the Rhondda on Sunday, Bishop’s men are left to concentrate on the crucial run in ahead of the all important split in Mid January. Until then, all thoughts of cup progression will be the last thing on the agenda within the dressing room according to Bish. “I have no preferences who we get in the next round. Irrespective of who we get, we’ve got a job to do. I’m pleased today. We’ve got on the scoresheet and kept a clean sheet. We’ll just go game to game and build towards the game on 14th January and worry about the cup after that". Watch the full interview with Matthew Bishop on Aber Town's Youtube Channel here. Aberystwyth Town's home Dafabet Welsh Premier League match againts Bangor City, postponed yesterday due to the Citizens' Welsh Cup commitments, has been rearranged for Tuesday 20th December, with an 8pm kick off.
The Club will once again need to hire the temporary floodlights used for tha Bala game for this match, which will be Aber's next game at Park Avenue. We apologise to our Supporters for any inconvenience caused by this rearrangement, which was totally out of the Club's control on this occasion. Aberystwyth Town will host Cymru Alliance leaders Prestatyn Town in the Welsh Cup Fourth Round, which will be played over the weekend of 27/8/9th January 2017.
The tie was picked as part of the draw, held at Ton Pentre FC this afternoon. The postponement of Ton Pentre's match against Bangor City means that the game will be played next weekend, which in turn means Aber's Dafabet WPL match against the Citizens next Saturday has been postponed for a later date - which we hope to confirm tomorrow.
