Next season, reserve teams of Welsh Premier clubs will not be able to play in the Spar Mid Wales or equivalent, which causes a problem for our reserve team who currently play in that league. This new ruling means they would have to drop down a division to the Spar Mid Wales league two which is a lower standard of football; this is also the case for Caersws and Newtown’s reserves. The gap in quality between the Spar Mid Wales and Welsh Premier is already high and will only get larger next season.

Tony Bates and the other directors will be looking at a number of options for the reserves next season, with closing down the reserves all together unfortunately being one of them. No decision has yet been made on the future of the reserves though.

A decision will be made shortly and will be on here first when decided and agreed upon as being the best option for ATFC as a club.
