ATFC STUDENTS SOCIETY / ATFC LIONS

The Aberystwyth Town Football Club Supporters Society is a new society at the university created by student fans, for student fans.

Run by a small committee of students who have been travelling from Bangor to Neath for the last few years to see the Seasiders home and away, who are trying to make sure student fans get the most out of the games they come to see. We spend most of our time at games either trying to come up with new, witty chants, or deciding whether we’re playing 4-3-3 or 4-5-1! We all enjoy the games not only for the football, but also the banter and atmosphere that we provide as a student lot.

Most of what we do revolved around the games, including meeting and walking down from Porters Lodge and Wetherspoons down in town, as well as getting everyone together for a pint after the game. We also have the odd social at other times just because we can, and the occasional themed night does pop up (football kit social coming soon, shin pads and all!). We also try to have our own kick about every now and again to remind ourselves why we’re not in the first XI, and are even planning a game against the rest of the fans, to be held before an Aber game on the Park Avenue astroturf!

The ATFC Lions are a student team sponsored by the Aberystwyth Town Football Club, who play in the University's Digs League. In their fifth season, the ATFC Lions have become a strong and consistent team with big ambitions!

After winning the Consolation Cup at the end of the 2009/10 season, the club has gone from strength to strength. Starting the 2011/12 season positively, the Lions have recorded some impressive victories, including 7-1 and 7-0 victories on the same day against Abertina and We Hate Ben FC respectively, as well as a 3-2 win against FC Beaver in the Aber Town Cup.

We have socials every couple of weeks and meet up away from the pitch frequently, which has led to one of the best team atmospheres in the league. If you're interested in learning more about the ATFC Lions then join our Facebook group here:
