On Saturday 27 June 2009, the Welsh Football Trust presented Aberystwyth Town FC with a certificate in recognition of becoming accredited as a Fun Football provider.

The fun football is targeted for children between the age of 4 and 7 and ATFC are delighted with the success of the centre. Over 50 children have registered with around 35 regularly attending the Saturday morning sessions. ATFC club mascot ‘Sami the Seagull’ is an integral character of the Seagulls Club building a rapport with the children.

Huw George Evans, a former ATFC player, is the Fun Football Coach. Huw said “ The Seagulls Club has given young children an opportunity to start playing football in a safe and friendly environment using the excellent indoor and outdoor facilities at Aberystwyth university”.

“We are grateful to the Aberystwyth Business Club for financial support with setting up the Seagulls club. The aim is to introduce boys and girls to the enjoyment of football, for them to mix and make friends, and learn in a fun environment”.

“I am pleased that Aberystwyth Town FC is providing organised football activity in the community. The Seagulls Club has achieved the Fun Football Charter Marker which is the benchmark for promoting good practice and the development of grass roots football ”.

The official launch of Aber Seagulls Club with the Aberystwyth Business Club did take place at 10.15am on Saturday 18th October 2008 at the Sports Cage.

This is a scheme to encourage local children, between the ages of 4-7, to get fit and have fun through the introduction of football with Sami. It proved to be a huge hit on the launch and unfortunately all the places have been fille,. 77 children signed up to it.

Fun football for children aged between 4 to 7 years old. Open to boys and girls.

In partnership with Aberystwyth university and supported by the Aberystwyth Business Club:

* First term will run until 13 th December 2008
* Time: 9.30 - 10.30am
* Venue: Aberystwyth University Sports Cage
* Cost £2 per session.
