Wrth i’r rhaglen fynd i’r wasg cawsom glywed y newyddion trist am farwolaeth Geraint Jenkins. Yn ogystal a bod yn un o gewri’r byd academaidd yma yng Nghymru roedd Geraint yn un o sêr Clwb Pêl-droed Tref Aberystwyth mewn cyfnod disglair iawn i’r Clwb.
Chwaraeodd Geraint gyfanswm o 65 gêm i dîm cyntaf y Gwyrdd a Du rhwng 1963 a 1973, gan sgorio 20 gôl dros cyfnod. Fel blaenwr 17 oed yn ystod tymor 1963-64, rhwydodd hat-tric ym muddugoliaeth y clwb o 6-2 dros Garw Welfare ym 4edd Rownd Cwpan Amatur Cymru. Bydd teyrnged lawn iddo yn y rhaglen nesaf. As the matchday programme went to press we were told the sad news about the death of Geraint Jenkins. As well as being one of the giants of the academic world here in Wales, Geraint was one of the stars of Aberystwyth Town Football Club during a very bright period for the Club. Geraint played a total of 65 matches for the Black & Green first eleven from 1963 to 1973, scoring 20 goals in the process. As a 17 year old forward during the 1963-64 season, he netted a hat-trick in the club's 6-2 victory over Garw Welfare in the 4th Round of the Welsh Amateur Cup.
