Niall Flint sgoriodd gyntaf i Aber ar 28 munud, ond wedi i Daniel Jones halaflu’r sgor saith munud wedi hynny, yr ymwelwyr oedd yn feistri. Pan sgoriodd Adam Stevens 11 munud mewn i’r ail hanner roedd sioc ar y gweill, ond Eilydd Aur y Gwyrdd a’r Duon sgrifenodd y sgript terfynol, gyda’i enw ef yn serennu ar ei thraws! Irrepressible Johnny Evans turned this game on its head last night at Park Avenue, scoring an 89th minute equaliser and a spectacular 97th minute winner to earn the Black and Greens a morale boosting win against Llandudno and a place in the MG Cup Quarter Finals. Niall Flint had given Aber the lead after 28 minutes, but once Daniel Jones equalised seven minutes later the visitors took the initiative. They went ahead thanks to Adam Stevens 11 minutes into the second half and looked set for victory until Aber’s Super Sub intervened and rewrote the script, with his surname all over it A much changed Aber side took the field with Seb Osment making his competitive debut, and Callum Huxley, Devon Torry, Christophe Aziamale and Rico Patterson also making starts. Patterson broke through early doors and sent an attempt over the bar, then Louis Bradford flicked on Jack Thorn’s throw, but Flint couldn’t quite convert the chance at the back post. Both sides settled down to attempt some good passing football, and the visitors, who were looking quite composed, went close with Harvey Bennet’s free kick, which went just over the bar. Michael Davies then glanced a header wide from a corner, but then the game broke in Aber’s favour: Frankie Ealing went on another buccaneering run down the right and played the ball across to Flint, who expertly converted into the far corner from the edge of the area for a super strike. Osment gathered a free kick from Anhtony Stevens, and then Flint almost doubled the lead with a super chip which kissed off the far post, but he was denied by the offside flag. Then Llandudno’s right back Jones surged up the middle and unleashed a howitzer from 30 yards which flew past Osment into the net, and Llandudno had an equaliser which they probably deserved. A dangerous period ensued with the visitors controlling the ball, but Aber defended solidly and went in level at the break.
Home fans were hoping for an improvement after the break but it was Dudno who took the initiative. True, Aziamale nearly scored a bizarre goal, deflecting Mike Jones’ clearance goalbound, only for Stephens to intervene, but this was against the run of play and it was no great surprise when Stevens broke down the right, surged forward and blasted into the top of the net for a two one lead which meant a shock was on. Aber made a couple of substitutions but were indebted to Osment who made a big stop from Llandudno’s striker who was straight through, and as the game wore on the chances started to come. Bradford headed wide from Alex Darlington’s cross, Evans flicked just wide from Ealing’s cut back, and Ealing himself had a shot cleared soon afterwards. Alex Boss then saw an effort cleared off the line with Aber on the brink of elimination, but hold on they did, and with Llandudno dropping deeper the big chance was on. Jones did blast over from the right side again, but after yet another super run from Ealing, the ball fell for Evans in the box, who spun and fired low to find the far corner amid scenes of great relief. Penalties seemed inevitable at this point as Flint skewed a late attempt wide at the back post from a right wing cross. Then in the seventh minute of injury time Town won a free kick out on the left, Darlington picked out Evans on the edge of the box, and he jinked past his defender onto his right foot and unleashed an absolute screamer which flew into the far roof of the net, with Jones the visiting keeper arched in despair as the ball flew past his grasp and nestled in the top corner. Amazing scenes and yet another unforgettable strike from the talisman himself! Clearly Johnnie Evans was the headline act last night, and his super contribution off the bench won a game Town appeared to have lost. The result is cheering and while the performance was not Aber’s best, the Green Army can look forward to an MG Cup Quarter Final draw on Thursday night, in which they will perform in the Northern section with TNS, Connah’s Quay and Bala. Next up however are Haverfordwest County who visit Park Avenue on Friday evening in the JD Cymru Premier. Stick with us on the Black and Green rollercoaster! Comments are closed.
