Aberystwyth Town start their 2024 pre-season by hosting Radcliffe FC this Friday. Our visitors have just been promoted to the National League North after 37 years in the Northern Premier League and finished the season as Champions; ahead of much fancied Macclesfield.
They were formerly known as Radcliffe Borough FC, changing their name to Radcliffe Football Club ahead of the 2018-19 and are led by former Chester and Salford City managers Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson. This will be Aber Town's first match since a 3-0 victory over Pontypridd United secured the clubs unbroken membership of the Cymru Premier for another season back in April. Manager Anthony Williams is entering his 3rd season in charge at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue and has wasted no time in retaining the majority of his squad, with Jack Thorn, Alex Darlington, Liam Walsh, John Owen, Jonathan Evans, Dave Jones, Iwan Lewis, Zac Hartley, Steff Davies and Louis Bradford all signed up for 2024/25 already. Harry Arnison and Rhys Davies have also returned to the club following periods away, whilst local lad Ben Davies has signed on for the season also. The John Charles Lounge at Park Avenue is unavailable tomorrow night due to a private function, but visiting supporters will be welcomed for a pre match drink at The Hoptimist pub, right opposite the Railway Station on Alexandra Road: around ten minutes' walk from the ground. Admission prices for friendlies at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium will be £5 for adults, £3 for concessions, and £1 for Secondary School Age kids.
