Uwchgynghrair Cymru JD Cymru Premier Gwener/Friday 9 Awst/August (CC/KO 7.45yh/pm) Drenewydd/Newtown v Tref Aber Town Mae tymor 2024/5 Uwchgynghrair JD Cymru ar fin cychwyn gyda Tref Aber yn gwynebu siwrne fer ar draws Plinlimon i wynebu'r unig dim arall sydd wedi cystadlu bob tymor ers cychwyn y gynghrair ym 1992. The start of the 2024/25 JD Cymru Premier season is finally upon us and Aber Town face a short journey across Mid Wales to face the only other team to have played in every season of the league since its inception in 1992. Anthony Williams and his team will go into this game in confident mood following last weeks excellent 2-0 victory at Colwyn Bay in the Nathaniel MG Cup: secured thanks to a penalty from Niall Flint on his return to the Black & Green and a second half goal from John Owen.
Newtown were also in Nathaniel MG Cup action and were defeated by Caernarfon Town on penalties after coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 in normal time. The Robins celebrate their 150-year anniversary this season and Manager Scott Ruscoe has made a number of changes to his squad this summer as he starts his first full season in charge of the club, having joined in January to replace the long serving Chris Hughes. Alex Swindell replaces Andy Wycherley in goal, whilst JJ Harries and Josh Lock are also new additions to the team. Ryan Pryce signs from Shifnal Town, whilst Ben Guest returns to Latham Park following a spell away from the club. Departing Latham Park this summer were Wales ‘C’ International defender Ryan Sears and former Seasider Matty Jones, who both moved to Caernarfon Town. Louis Robles joined Bala Town and Fumpa Mwandwe signed for Connahs Quay Nomads. Henry Cowans also moved to pastures new. There were two meetings between the clubs last season. A 0-0 draw played out in August at Latham Park, whilst Newtown triumphed 1-0 at Park Avenue in November. Newtown have had more success in these fixtures in recent years, winning 5 out of the last 10 encounters to Aber’s 3. However, the Black and Greens have only lost once in five visits to Latham Park. Latham Park can be found by using postcode SY16 1EN. Tickets are priced at £7 for Adults, £5 for Concessions and £2 for Under 16’s and can be purchased on Newtown’s Fan Base app. The JD Cymru Prem is back for another season! Comments are closed.
