Friday 1st February (7:45pm Kick Off)
Aberystwyth Town v Llandudno
Aberystwyth Town begin Phase 2 of the JD Welsh Premier League season seeking a much needed victory against Llandudno at Park Avenue on Friday evening. The Black and Greens have suffered a recent dip in form, but will look to kick start their season once more on Friday as they chase a seventh placed finish in the league table that would guarantee a Europa League Play Off spot in May.
Town have lost seven consecutive games in all competitions, most recently losing to Cardiff Met in the JD Welsh Cup at Park Avenue last weekend. After that defeat, Assistant Manager Gavin Allen admitted the squad were a little low on confidence after the recent run of results; "We played very well for 30 minutes, and were well on top in the game, but we just don't have that confidence at the moment to go on and score that second goal which would likely win us the game."
Despite this, Aber must remain positive that they can turn a corner once more on Friday evening, as they begin the second phase of the season that gives them 10 games to re-kindle their form and push for a Europa League Play Off spot. The squad was boosted this week by the signing of prolific striker Marc Williams, who Town will hope is cleared to play in time for Friday evening against his former team, whilst Terry McCormick and Alan Goodall are available for selection after missing last weekend's clash with Cardiff Met.
Friday's visitors Llandudno travel to Park Avenue rock bottom of the JD Welsh Premier League table, 10 points from safety and without a league victory since September. Iwan Williams' side did pick up a valuable JD Welsh Cup victory last weekend at Llangefni however, and have been boosted by the signings of former Bangor target man Les Davies and former Seasider Tom Owens in recent weeks.
As phase 2 of the season begins, Aber will be hopeful of getting off to a brilliant start with victory on Friday evening. Kick off at Park Avenue is at 7;45 pm, and admission costs £8 adults, £5 concessions and £2 for u16's. Come on down and support the team as they look to get back on track with a big result at Park Ave.
