Bish: "The Players are Hurting and Want to Put Things Right"

15/9/2016

No Aberystwyth Town season would be complete without any highs and lows. Following a blistering start, Town have suffered consecutive defeats against Rhyl, Bangor and Carmarthen, writes Club Media Assistant Matthew Wallace. But there’s little time and place in football for self pity and it’s something that manager Matthew Bishop is keen to address.

“We’re disappointed after last week. There’s frustration in the dressing room. I was very disappointed with the three goals that we gave away. But we are also getting punished for some bad decision-making, and we’ve got to cut that out.” He told atfc.org.uk

Despite the recent setbacks, the league is incredibly tight with just a few points separating the top 4 and the relegation zone during the infancy of this campaign. There is all still to play for in the coming weeks.

“I know the players are hurting and they want to put things right. We have got a good group of players that I believe in, and I still think that they are good enough. We are having a spell where a bit of the luck is not on our side.”

Thoughts turn to Sunday’s match against last year’s play off champions Connah’s Quay Nomads, a side that the Seasiders claimed four points from a maximum of six available last season.

“They’ve got threats all over, and they are solid too. They are are one of the title contenders, so it is going to be difficult, and it’s another away match. We have got to crack on, and see if we can get something from it.”

The Supporters Coach tpo Connah's Quay leaves Park Avenue at 10.45am on Sunday, and a full match preview will be published on atfc.org.uk tomorrow.
