Caldicot Town Ladies 0 Aberystwyth Town Ladies 2 (Wylde 59', F. Evans 89')
A week prior, the Black and Greens were returning to Mid Wales disappointed following a 1-0 defeat to Caldicot in the League Cup Semi-Final. Just 7 days later and Town returned to Jubilee Way to face the South Wales side once more in a vital league fixture. The visitors looked the most threatening early on, Caroline Cooper's in-swinging corner hitting the near post whilst Ffiona Evans' close-range effort at the back post went wide of the goal. Caldicot grew into the game and were keeping possession well whilst creating a couple of shooting opportunities from outside the box. The hosts' quick-passing was causing Aber a few problems but that still didn't stop the away side creating chances of their own. Both Tania Wylde and Stevie Cook came close to breaking the deadlock but both teams ended the half all-square.
Wylde came close early in the second half but was unable to keep her strike down after doing well to beat the defender. The attacking-midfielder wasn't going to be denied a 23rd goal of the season though and fourteen minutes into the second half Cooper played an excellent through ball to Wylde who manged to expertly lift the ball over the goalkeeper to give the team at the top of the league a second-half lead. Cat Davies nearly doubled Aber's lead when her effort almost looped over the home side's keeper, who just about managed to tip the ball over the crossbar. With the match coming to its conclusion, the Mid-Wales side secured the points thanks to club captain, Ffiona Evans. Wylde's cut-back was deflected into the air by the goalkeeper but Evans was in the right place at the right time to side foot the ball over the defender and into the net.
With Cascade YC scoring a late winner against second placed Barry Town United Ladies it means the Black and Greens moved eight points clear at the top of the table with just four league matches remaining. Next up is a home fixture against Cardiff-based side Splott Albion, to be played at Aberystwyth University's 3G pitch on Sunday 14th April (ko 2pm).
