Cardiff Met v Aberystwyth Town
Aber Town travel to the Capital City tomorrow evening looking for a Nathaniel Cup Pick me up, as they visit Cup holders Cardiff Met at their Cyncoed Campus ground for a Third Round tie with a 7.45pm kick off.
They booked their place with an impressive 4-3 win away to last season’s Cup Runners Up Cambrian & Clydach back in August thanks to Mathew Jones’ late winner. The Seasiders looked second best for parts of their last match at home to Caernarfon Town on Friday night and ended up losing 3-2, but on reflection they were on the wrong end of two controversial penalty decisions, and came within an inch of a point when Mathew Jones’ free kick cannoned off the cross bar in injury time. Jones and Paulo Mendes were influential subs and will be pushing for a start tomorrow night, while winger Joe Phillips will be looking to score for a third consecutive game after his worldy last weekend.
An away tie to Met was probably the toughest draw Town could have got in the regionalised last sixteen, but the Black and Greens will be hoping to build on their impressive record at Cyncoed which has seen them won two and draw one of their last four visits. Cardiff Met are in excellent form and are riding high in the table, so a tough match is a gimme: a win however would put Aber within two matches of the Nathaniel MG Cup Final in January, and three matches away from a place in next season’s Scottish Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup: a prize guaranteed to this year's League Cup Winners!
The postcode given for the Cyncoed Campus is CF23 6XD and the Club will be grateful for your support. Don’t be late however: there will be no extra time and if the scores are level at 90 minutes the match will proceed straight to penalties! See you in the Big City tomorrow.
