Aberystwyth Town confirm the departure of Cledan Davies, who was released to join Penrhyncoch FC over the weekend.
Tregaron born Cledan signed for the Club in 2009 from Tregaron Turfs after impressing then boss Brian Coyne. Left footed Cledan, happy at left back or as a left winger, became an important part of the team during his first season at the club. After being out with an ankle injury for most of the 2010/11 season, and finding his first team chances limited, Cledan spent time on loan at Penrhyncoch before signing for Tomi Morgan at Carmarthen in 2011. After starting most games and showing his worth at Carmarthen, Tomi wasted no time in bringing Cledan back to his local Welsh Premier team for the new season, and in his first season back, won Supporters' Player of the Year. Davies was ever present in 2013/4 and was an integral part of the side which reached the Welsh Cup Final. In 2014/5 he represented the Black and Greens in the UEFA Europa League, and achieved a Top Four finish with Ian Hughes' men. Now aged 27, Cledan has made 209 WPL appearances (all but 30 for Aber), scoring 11 goals along the way. Aberystwyth Town FC thank Cledan for his loyal service and wish him all the best for his future career. Photo below shows Cledan in action for the Black and Greens in September.
