Tomos, originally from Carmarthen has been a valued part of Aber Town's Media Team since starting a Geography Course at Aberystwyth University three years ago. His roles have included producing Match Reports for the Club Website, photographing matches, submitting reports to the Press Association and helping out on Club Marketing Events, most memorably as Sami the Seagull.
Soon to graduate and looking at his future career, Tomos took the opportunity to apply to become a Champions League Volunteer with the FAW, and after an interview he was accepted. Tomos explains his role:
"I was part of the Spectator Services team at the Champions League Final guiding visitors around the City and taking pictures.
I was also involved with the rehearsals for the Men's Final Presentation Ceremony. This was definitely a huge highlight, playing the part of a player on the winning team, meeting UEFA ambassadors Ian Rush and lifting the 'Old Big Ears' trophy on the stage at the Millennium Stadium. An experience that will remain as one of the best days in my life!
None of this would have been possible without my time volunteering at Aberystwyth Town FC and the club will forever hold a special place in my heart. It taught me a number of skills which apply, not only for volunteering opportunities at massive events such as the Champions League Final, but also for the general world of employment. The opportunity handed to me at ATFC has certainly given me a fantastic head start and I feel immensely proud to have been part of such a fantastic and successful team!”.
Aberystwyth Town FC Media Director said: “We thank Tomos for his three years loyal service at the Club. He has become a valued and popular member of the team and if he does choose to move on from Aber at the end of the season, it will be with our blessing. He'd be an asset to any Club or organisation."
Aberystwyth Town FC continues to recruit Media Volunteers and any interested parties are invited to email Thomas Crockett at email@example.com.
