From a young age Dic has always followed Aberystwyth Town, he even remembers the Crossville end before the Dias Stand was there. He has also watched some of Aber’s greatest ever players including the late David ‘Dias’ Williams, Wil Lloyd, Bryan Pugh-Jones, Gordon Pugh and Stuart Griffiths who was one of Dic’s lecturers while he was studying in Cardiff Met University. He also remembers Hereford coming to Aber for a Welsh Cup game in 1991 including games against Abergavenny Thursdays and Lovell's Athletic F.C who went out of business in 1969.
Dic has always been a very keen runner and supporters will have regularly spotted him running locally. As well as following Aber Town, he is keen volunteer in the area. He holds running sessions every Tuesday and Thursday that meet at the Sports Centre. These sessions are completely free and are for all ability.
Dic has also been the driving force for the Red Kite Challenge, an annual trail-running race held in Devils Bridge on early May bank holiday weekend for the past 18 years. All profits of this race go to Bronglais hospital. This year the money raised was going to the chemotherapy unit in Bronglais but due to Covid 19, this race was postponed. So, instead, Dic has committed to run 1000 miles - in aid of the same cause. For more information on this race, please visit - http://redkite-barcudcoch.org.uk
Everyone at the club would like to wish Dic all the best with challenge. Please donate anything you can. Here is the link - Dic's 1000 mile running challenge from 23rd March to 30th June 2020.
We hope to see Dic Evans at Park Avenue very soon!
