JD Cymru Premier
Friday 19th November
The Black & Greens return to league action this Friday, 10 days on from producing the result of the season so far in the Cymru Premier – inflicting the first defeat of the season on table topping The New Saints.
The last week and a half has seen plenty of well deserved plaudits come the way of Antonio Corbisiero and his team, including national recognition on TalkSport radio station as host Charlie Baker was forced to eat humble pie having tipped the Seasiders to be defeated by The Saints! Aber will now look to continue this recent upturn in from at Cyncoed Campus against the students of Cardiff Met.
Met currently sit in 10th place in the league and have collected 15 points from their 13 games so far. They come into this match on the back of three straight defeats and with only 1 win in their last five league games. The 12 goals that they have scored so far in the league this season have been scored by 8 different players, with Adam Roscrow, Emlyn Lewis & Elliot Evans the only players to score more than one – with two goals each so far this season.
This will be the third meeting between the two teams so far this season. A late deflected strike gave Met a 1-0 victory at Park Avenue back in September, and they also won 5-2 against a much-changed Aber side in the Nathaniel MG Cup a couple of weeks later.
The Black & Greens have not won in their last 5 visits to Cyncoed Campus, since Ashley Ruane’s 95th minute winner sealed 3-2 win after Met took a 2-0 lead back in November 2018. Another performance like last Tuesday’s may well see this run end and would accelerate the Seasiders ascent up the Cymru Premier table!
Cyncoed Campus is on Cyncoed Road and the postcode is CF23 6XD. There is car parking available on site at the campus and the stadium can be found by the National Indoor Athletics Centre. If you can’t make the trip, coverage will be available on our Twitter feed @Aberystwyth Town as usual. Can the Seasiders make it back-to-back wins? Don’t bet against it…!
