REPORT: ATWFC 4 - 1 PONTYPRIDD UTD WOMEN

Aberystwyth Town Women delivered an outstanding attacking performance to claim a convincing 4–1 victory over Pontypridd United Women, with a clinical first-half display setting the tone at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue.

The hosts made a dream start, taking the lead early on with a superb piece of team play. Shauna Chambers incisive, line-breaking pass found Amy Jenkins, who showed excellent vision to lift a perfectly weighted ball over the defence. Bethan Roberts latched onto it and calmly slotted past the goalkeeper to open the scoring.

Aber continued to play with confidence and intensity, doubling their advantage in the 22nd minute. Sioned Kersey whipped in a dangerous, high-paced cross that was brilliantly met by Amy Jenkins, who flicked the ball into the net to make it 2–0.

With the wind proving difficult for both sides, Aberystwyth adapted superbly and remained firmly in control. The third goal arrived in the 39th minute, as Carys Bufton produced a great pass into Alaw Davies, who struck a looping half-volley that sailed over the keeper and into the far corner.

The home side struck again almost immediately. Straight from the restart, a high press forced an error in the Pontypridd defence, allowing Alaw Davies to win possession and feed Amy Jenkins. She turned sharply before sliding a perfectly timed pass out to the left for Carys Bufton, who made an excellent run and finished confidently across goal to make it 4–0 at the break.

Pontypridd pulled a goal back in the 52nd minute through Nicole Fenton, who finished well to reduce the deficit. However, Aberystwyth remained composed and organised, managing the second half effectively despite the challenging wind conditions.

It was a professional and dominant performance from Aberystwyth Town Women, whose attacking quality in the first half ultimately proved decisive.
