PREVIEW: AMMANFORD (H)

Aberystwyth Town’s JD Cymru South journey continues this Bank Holiday Monday with the visit of Ammanford AFC to Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium.

This will be Ammanford’s second trip to Ceredigion in recent times, having knocked the Seasiders out of the Welsh Cup at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue last season. Callum Thomas scored the only goal that afternoon in a 1–0 victory for the visitors.

Now in their seventh year at the second tier, Ammanford were promoted in 2018 after spending much of the previous 15 years in the third division. Last season they finished 10th in the JD Cymru South, recording 11 wins and 3 draws from their 30 matches. Their Welsh Cup run ended at home to Haverfordwest County in a dramatic penalty shootout, which saw 22 penalties taken, 19 of them converted.

The man in the visitors’ dugout, Wyn Thomas, is no stranger to Ceredigion. He enjoyed two spells in Black and Green as a player, later served as Assistant Manager to Ian Hughes, and even had a brief spell as Caretaker Manager. He went on to manage Swansea University before taking over at Ammanford late last year.

Tickets for Monday’s match are priced at £7 for Adults and £5 for Concessions. Primary school-age children and junior league players are admitted free of charge. This season, ATFC are also offering a £2 discount on Adult digital tickets purchased in advance.

Come and join us at Park Avenue for a Bank Holiday bonanza!
