What a summer it has been for women's football with Cymru Women proudly representing our country at the Women's Euro Championships in what has been their first ever major tournament! Although the results have not been favourable, this historic achievement has captivated a nation, and in reality, is about far more than winning games. It is about putting Welsh women's football on the map, showing people what they can aspire and dream to be, as well as helping to attract support and investment into the sport - something which can hopefully translate into the domestic leagues.

Inspiring the next generation is something we also hope to do at Aberystwyth Town Women, albeit on a slightly smaller scale. Proudly, we are Mid Wales' only remaining representatives in Tier 1 football, with our First team competing in the Genero Adran Premier - the highest level of women's football in Wales. By retaining our position in Wales' premier competition whilst also developing our youth provision, we hope to not only provide a clear pathway for women and girls across the region to play football at a high level, but to also engage the wider community with ATWFC and our journey along the way.
Recently, the club has been awarded a FA Wales National Academi Girls Licence by the FAW, resulting in the addition of an U13 Girls Academy to Aberystwyth Town Women. Trials were well attended, and the club would like to congratulate all those who have been selected to be a part of the academy, whilst also offering our encouragement to those who may be disappointed in not being selected to keep at it!
As we turn our attention back to the senior teams, preseason is now in full swing as we look forward to our first friendly fixture on Saturday 19th where we play host to Notts County. This is sure to be a tough test for the girls against FA Women's National League opposition who currently compete in the Division One Midlands, and finished mid-table in the 2024/25 season.
A good crowd is expected at Park Avenue for the fixture, with the U15 and U17 girls squads from BGC Wales and BGC Scotland being our guests for the evening ahead of their respective fixtures on the Sunday. Kick-off against Notts County is at 7.00pm, with tickets for the game available to purchase here
We extend a warm welcome to all to come on down to Park Avenue and see what ATWFC is all about!
