Aberystwyth Town face an important fixture in their bid for promotion back to the JD Cymru Premier this Saturday, as Cardiff Draconians make the trip to Aberystwyth University Park Avenue.

Nana Baah’s side can be considered something of a surprise package this season. The Draconians currently sit fifth in the table with 29 points from 18 matches — two points and two places above Aberystwyth, although they have played one game more.
The sides last met in September, when the Draconians claimed a 3–1 victory against a ten-man Aber. The Seasiders were reduced to nine men midway through the second half after Star Mayemba was sent off for two bookable offences.
Draconians come into this fixture on the back of a 1–0 win away at Cwmbran Celtic last Friday, with Oliver Wylie’s goal securing all three points.
Daniel Bowen and Sam Cawley have been key performers for the visitors this season. Bowen has contributed seven goals and two assists, while Cawley has found the net five times and provided seven assists.
For Aber, Craig Williams will be hoping to hand a debut to new signing Erik Savkin, as well as a first appearance of his second spell for the returning Cameron Allen. Neither player has featured yet due to the postponement of the Baglan Dragons fixture a couple of weeks ago.
Having not played in recent weeks, the Black and Greens now sit seventh, but crucially have a game in hand on all but one of the teams above them. There is currently a ten-point gap to the all-important third place, and with plenty of football still to be played, Aber know they must put together a strong run of wins if they are to remain in the promotion hunt come April.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be Aberystwyth Town without a dramatic second half to the season!
Tickets are priced at £7 for adults and £5 for concessions. Primary school children and junior league players can attend free of charge. Join us for this all important game!!
