PREVIEW: CPD LLANUWCHLLYN (H)

Aberystwyth Town round off their pre-season campaign this Saturday as Llanuwchllyn visit Aberystwyth University Park Avenue for the final friendly before the 2026/27 Novira Cymru South season gets underway on 1st August. 

The Seasiders head into the match unbeaten in pre-season, with Friday's 2-1 victory at Guilsfield being a second win in four outings. Manager Craig Williams will be encouraged by his side's performances as attention starts to turn to the league opener. 

The club's new signings have settled in well. Goalkeeper Luke Evans has already kept three clean sheets, while Dillon Browne and Rhys Hughes have both opened their goalscoring accounts. Sixteen-year-old Gruff Sedgwick also impressed against Guilsfield, producing a defence-splitting pass to set up Hughes' winning goal. 

Saturday's visitors, Llanuwchllyn, will begin life in the Novira Cymru North after securing promotion as Ardal North East champions last season. They also reached the Ardal North Cup Final, narrowly losing 2-1 to Bangor City 1876. 

Llanuwchllyn first attracted national attention during an impressive Welsh Cup run in 2024/25, defeating Cymru Premier side Newtown and Swansea University before exiting to Denbigh Town in the fourth round. After falling short in the promotion play-offs that season, they responded in style by winning the Ardal North East title in 2025/26. Prolific forward Meilir Williams played a key role, scoring 53 goals across all competitions. 

Following Saturday's fixture, Aber turn their attention to the league campaign, which begins away at Afan Lido on Saturday 1^st August.
