PREVIEW: CWMBRAN CELTIC (A)

Aberystwyth Town will look to continue their terrific recent form as they travel south to visit Cwmbran Celtic.

Craig Williams’ side are enjoying an excellent run of form and will be looking to further cement their place in the all-important top three as the season enters its final stretch. With only eight games remaining after Saturday’s fixture, every point is vital.

Last week’s game may not have been a classic, but it did once again demonstrate a key strength of this squad - the ability to grind out results. That resilience could prove decisive as the finish line comes into view.

Saturday’s hosts, Cwmbran Celtic, are long-standing members of the JD Cymru South, having spent the majority of the past 15 years in the division. During that time, they have produced several impressive survival escapes, including last season.

However, the 2025/26 season has proven far more challenging. Celtic have collected just five points from their 20 league matches and currently sit 18th in the table. Despite their league struggles, they showed resilience in the cup competitions, taking both Carmarthen Town and Pontypridd United to penalty shootouts.

Former Risca United manager Simon Berry leads the hosts, assisted by Stephen Muir, Sam Lewis and Connor James. Celtic head into Saturday’s clash on the back of three consecutive defeats, including a 3–1 loss at Llantwit Major last weekend.

In the reverse fixture back in September, two goals from Jonny Evans secured all three points for Aber. The same result this weekend would do just nicely!

Cwmbran Celtic play their home matches at the Avondale Motor Park Arena on Henllys Way, adjacent to Cwmbran Stadium. Admission prices are £5 for adults, £3 for concessions, and free for under-16s.
