Aberystwyth Town head south once again for the penultimate game of the 2025/26 season. With all home matches now complete, ATFC will see out the season in South East Wales, first at Cwmbran Celtic this weekend, and then a trip to Ynyshir Albions next weekend to complete the fixture list.

With Aber confirming receipt of a Tier One Licence from the FAW First Instance body on Wednesday, the club now face a wait to see what the 2026/27 will look like, but there are matters on the field to be resolved still, and two wins from the final two games will secure a 5th place finish for the Seasiders.
Saturday’s hosts, Cwmbran Celtic, are long-standing members of the JD Cymru South, having spent the majority of the past 15 years in the division. During that time, they have produced several impressive survival escapes, including last season.
However, the 2025/26 season has proven far more challenging. Celtic have collected just seven points from their 28 league matches and currently sit 18th in the table. Despite their league struggles, they showed resilience in the cup competitions, taking both Carmarthen Town and Pontypridd United to penalty shootouts.
Former Risca United manager Simon Berry leads the hosts, assisted by Stephen Muir, Sam Lewis and Connor James. Celtic head into Saturday’s clash on the back of three consecutive defeats, including a 4–1 loss at Afan Lido last time out.
In the reverse fixture back in September, two goals from Supporters’ Player of the Year Jonny Evans secured all three points for Aber. Evans was honoured again last weekend, alongside Zach McKenzie, who claimed the Sponsors’ Player of the Year award, and Sam Paddock, who was named Players’ and Management Player of the Year. Barring an unlikely turn of events, Evans is also set to finish the season as the club’s top scorer, having already netted 10 goals during this campaign.
Cwmbran Celtic play their home matches at the Avondale Motor Park Arena on Henllys Way, adjacent to Cwmbran Stadium. Admission prices are £5 for adults, £3 for concessions, and free for under-16s. Come and back the boys as the 2025/26 season nears its conclusion!
