Aberystwyth Town’s Boxing Day outing takes place at USW Sports Park this year, as the Black & Greens face Pontypridd United.

Craig Williams’ first game in charge last week ended in a narrow 1–0 defeat at Caerau Ely, meaning Aber enter the festive period five points outside the all-important top three, but with plenty of opportunity to make up ground over the coming weeks.

Friday’s hosts also have a new man in the dugout. Matthew Driscoll was appointed last week, along with his assistant Ismail Yakubu, with the pair having previously worked together at Cinderford Town.

Long-standing Black & Greens supporters may remember Driscoll having a brief spell at Park Avenue back in 2005. He also represented his new club as a player between 2010 and 2012.

Pontypridd currently sit 10th in the league, having won four and drawn four of their 16 games so far.

Ethan Edwards is their top scorer with seven goals, while Sam Johnson has six and Tom Hillman has four.

Pontypridd are captained by former Seasider Jamie Veale, who spent two years at Park Avenue between 2020 and 2022. He currently jointly leads their assist charts with four, alongside Tom Hillman. There is another former Seasider in their ranks in Gwion Pugh-Jones, who previously spent time at the Club as Aber’s physio.
