PREVIEW: TRETHOMAS BLUEBIRDS (A)

After a week away from action due to last weekend’s inclement weather, Aberystwyth Town return to Novira Cymru South action this Saturday as they welcome Trethomas Bluebirds to Park Avenue, looking to get back to winning ways.

Craig Williams’ side currently sit third in the league, just two points off the top of the table, with two games in hand over second-placed Pontypridd United. With Saturday’s fixture marking the one-third point of the season, the Black and Greens will be eager to take advantage of the opportunity to close the gap on the teams above them.

The visitors attracted plenty of attention over the summer with the announcement of former Premier League forward Michael Chopra’s signing, although he has made just one appearance in Bluebirds colours to date.

Nevertheless, Paul Evans’ side have enjoyed a steady start to the campaign and currently occupy seventh place, having collected 16 points from 11 matches. They will be looking to build on that platform as they aim to improve on last season’s 13th-place finish.

Norton Ferreira has been instrumental in Trethomas’ recent performances, registering 10 goals and four assists so far this season. Jay Thomas has also made a significant contribution, finding the net five times.

Aber enjoyed a successful record against the Bluebirds last season, winning both meetings between the sides. The Black and Greens secured a narrow 3-2 victory away from home in November before recording a convincing 3-0 win at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue in March.

With this match being played on Halloween, The Black and Greens will be hoping to give the Bluebirds a fright and make it a spooktacular Saturday at Park Avenue!
