Aberystwyth Town Women endured a difficult afternoon across the border at Park Hall on Sunday as The New Saints claimed a 4-0 victory in the Genero Adran Premier. A brace from Fiona Barry, alongside goals from Caitlin Chapman and Abbie Iddenden, secured all three points for the hosts despite a determined effort from the Seasiders.

Aber headed into the encounter looking to build on their encouraging 2-2 draw against Barry Town United the previous weekend, which had earned them their first point of the campaign. However, they faced a tough challenge against a TNS side determined to return to winning ways following their defeat to Cardiff City.

The Seasiders made a disciplined start to the contest, successfully containing the TNS attack for the opening 25 minutes. Aber remained organised defensively, frustrating the hosts and limiting their opportunities as they looked to establish a foothold in the game.

However, the hosts eventually found the breakthrough through Fiona Barry, who continued her impressive goalscoring form against the Seasiders. Caitlin Chapman then doubled the advantage before the interval, leaving Aber with a difficult task heading into the second half.

Aber continued to work hard after the restart, looking to remain organised defensively while searching for opportunities to get themselves back into the contest. However, TNS extended their lead through Abbie Iddenden, putting the hosts firmly in control of proceedings. Barry then added her second of the afternoon to complete the scoring and seal a 4-0 victory for The New Saints.

Despite the disappointing result, Aber will look to take lessons from another challenging fixture against strong opposition, particularly their disciplined defensive display in the opening stages. The Seasiders will now turn their attention to their next Genero Adran Premier fixture, as they welcome Cardiff Met to Park Avenue on Sunday 1st November.
