Aberystwyth Town Women secured their Genero Adran Premier status with a historic 5–0 victory away to Pontypridd United Women, recording their biggest win in the competition and confirming their place in the top flight for next season.

Aber made the perfect start and broke the deadlock in just the 5th minute with a well-worked corner routine. Shauna Chambers delivered an excellent ball into the area which was met powerfully by Amy Jenkins, whose header found the net to give the visitors an early lead.
The Seasiders continued to dominate possession and control the tempo of the game, keeping Pontypridd pinned back for large spells. Their pressure paid off again in the 22nd minute when Jenkins grabbed her second goal of the afternoon. Rebecca Mathias delivered a dangerous free-kick into the box and Jenkins rose highest to guide another header past the goalkeeper to double Aber’s advantage.
Aber continued to threaten from set pieces and struck again just before the break. Another superb delivery from Chambers’ corner caused problems in the Pontypridd penalty area, and this time Rebecca Mathias was on hand to head home in the 41st minute to send Aber into half-time with a commanding 3–0 lead.
Pontypridd enjoyed a brief spell of possession after the restart as they looked for a way back into the contest, but Aber remained dangerous on the counter. Their fourth goal arrived thanks to a moment to remember for Dani Mawle. Sioned Kersey played a precise pass into Mawle, who finished superbly high into the goal to score her first ever goal in the Genero Adran Premier.
Both sides made changes as the second half progressed, and the afternoon also marked a special milestone for Aberystwyth. Hannah Phillips-Jones made her senior debut in the 79th minute following a series of impressive performances for the club’s Under-19 side and in training.
Just two minutes later Aber added further gloss to the scoreline. Sioned Kersey once again provided the delivery into the box, and Millie Gardner was perfectly placed at the back post to finish and score her first goal in the top flight of women’s football, sealing a memorable 5–0 victory.
The result not only represents Aberystwyth Town Women’s biggest win in Genero Adran Premier history but also confirms their place in the division for next season, capping off a landmark afternoon for the Seasiders. Thank you for all your continued support.
