REPORT: SWANSEA CITY WOMEN 2 - 0 ATWFC

It was a tough day for the Seasiders in Llandarcy, as Aberystwyth Town Women ended their winning streak.

The game began evenly, with both sides settling well until the hosts made the breakthrough in the 11th minute. Eilish Mitchell rose highest to head home from a corner—the first goal Aberystwyth have conceded this season—giving Swansea the platform to control the contest. Swansea dictated the tempo of the first half and enjoyed most of the possession, though they rarely troubled Aberystwyth’s ever-strong defence. It was clear that Aber would need to come out after the break with greater energy.

The second half began with Rhys Jon James’ side responding positively to the half-time team talk. The players emerged with determination, producing their brightest spell in the opening 20 minutes after the restart. They pressed with intent, asked questions of the Swansea defence, and threatened to find a way back into the game. However, the home side weathered the pressure and struck again in the 84th minute, a composed finish doubling their advantage and effectively sealing the three points.

Despite Aber’s spirited effort, Swansea clinched the victory in Llandarcy, while Aberystwyth were left to reflect on a performance that showed both their resilience and the fine margins at the top of the table. With six points taken from a possible nine, there are still plenty of positives to build on ahead of next Sunday’s home fixture against Barry Town United Women (28th September, 2pm kick-off).

Once again, thank you to all the fans who travelled to Swansea to support the girls—your backing, as always, never goes unnoticed!
