Aberystwyth Town Football Club are pleased to welcome exciting winger Rhys Hughes to the club from neighbours Bow Street FC of the Lock Stock Ardal North-East.

An academy product of his hometown club Porthmadog FC, 26-year-old Rhys is a former Aberystwyth University student who made the town his home after completing his studies in Business Management and International Marketing.
A rapid and tricky winger, Rhys joined Bow Street ahead of the 2022/23 season, making his true breakthrough the next year scoring 15 goals in 33 games as the Magpies finished in 3rd place.
He added a further 16 goals and an impressive 12 assists the following season as Bow Street improved to league runners-up, missing out on the league title by just three points to Brickfield Rangers.
Rhys' goalscoring improved again last season as he notched 24 goals in all competitions, firmly establishing himself as one of the league's most exciting and prolific forwards.
He now steps up to the JD Cymru South in Black and Green and will look to play a key role amongst Craig Williams attacking options.
Rhys told us:
"I can’t thank Bow Street enough for the platform they’ve given me over the past few years. They’ve given me the opportunity to play and gain experience at a good level of senior football and have been one of the best clubs I’ve been involved with.
I consider my biggest strengths to be my pace and determination. I’m an attacker who loves to get into goalscoring positions while also having the willingness to do the hard work off the ball.
As for my personal goals, I’d like to adapt to the quality and intensity of the league as quickly as possible so that I can contribute towards a title push. The way the squad is being built is very promising, and it’s something I’m looking forward to being involved in as soon as possible."
Manager Craig Williams added:
“I'm really pleased to welcome Rhys to ATFC. He scored an impressive 20 league goals last season from a wide position, and his style of play, along with the fact he’s a local player, will excite the fans at Park Avenue this season.
His character and attitude fit the type of person we’re looking to add to the group, and I believe he’s ready for the step up in challenge. Welcome to the club, Rhys!”
