Aberystwyth Town Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced striker Aaron Williams ahead of the 2026/27 JD Cymru South season!

The 32-year-old arrives at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue with a wealth of experience from more than a decade in senior football, having played across the English Football League, National League system and Cymru Premier.

A product of the Walsall academy, Williams has enjoyed a distinguished career featuring spells with Peterborough United, Newport County, Nuneaton Town, AFC Telford United, Brackley Town, Harrogate Town and Newtown, among others. He has also represented England C at international level, highlighting the quality and consistency he has shown throughout his career.

Williams joins the Seasiders with an outstanding goalscoring pedigree. During his four seasons at Newtown, he established himself as one of the Cymru Premier's most prolific forwards, scoring 80 goals in 143 appearances across all competitions, earning him a reputation as one of the division's most clinical finishers.

His goals played a crucial role in one of the most successful periods in Newtown's recent history as the Robins secured European qualification on two occasions, playing a key role as the club achieved back-to-back top-three finishes in the Cymru Premier.

He was part of the Newtown side that qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022 before helping the club enjoy a memorable European campaign the following season. The Robins progressed past Faroese side HB Tórshavn before facing Slovakian outfit Spartak Trnava in the second qualifying round. Williams marked the occasion by scoring his first European goal in the home leg against the Slovak side.

Away from Welsh football, Williams has enjoyed success throughout the English non-league pyramid. He helped Brackley Town lift the FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium and claimed the Northern Premier League Premier Division Golden Boot during a prolific spell with Rushall Olympic.

A powerful and intelligent centre-forward, Williams brings leadership, experience and a proven eye for goal to the Black and Green.

Aaron told us:

"I’ve always known Aberystwyth Town to be a well-supported club with a proud history in Welsh football. Over the years, I’ve played at Park Avenue a number of times and know how passionate the supporters are. It’s a club with high standards and a real connection to the local community, so it’s exciting to now be part of that and represent the club myself.

Having played alongside Craig at Newtown, I already knew the type of person he is and the standards he expects. When we spoke about the opportunity at Aberystwyth, it was clear that he has a real passion for the club and a strong vision for what he’s trying to build.

We had some good conversations about the squad, the ambitions for the coming season, and the role he sees me playing. That familiarity and trust definitely helped, and after speaking with him, it felt like the right move for me.

I like to think I bring experience, leadership, and a strong work ethic. As a striker, my job is to score goals, but I also want to contribute to the team in every aspect of the game, whether that’s holding the ball up, bringing others into play, or setting the tone with my work rate.

Hopefully, I can contribute with goals and assists, but just as importantly, help create a positive and competitive environment within the squad. I’m looking forward to getting started, building relationships with the lads, and doing everything I can to help the team have a successful season."

Manager Craig Williams commented:

"Willo is a player I know really well from my playing days, and when I knew he was available, I was determined to bring him in.

His outstanding goalscoring record in the Cymru Premier speaks for itself, and his quality and experience will be invaluable to our group.

Off the pitch, his character and attitude align perfectly with what we’re trying to build here, and I’m absolutely delighted to have him with us. Welcome, Willo!"
