ABSALOM SIGNS ON DEADLINE DAY!

Aberystwyth Town FC are delighted to confirm the loan signing of goalkeeper Kelland Absalom from JD Cymru Premier side Cardiff Met FC until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The Club would like to place on record its thanks to Met's officials for their cooperation in completing the loan transfer.

A Welsh international at youth level, Kelland has represented Wales at both Under-17 and Under-21 level, earning over ten caps. He featured prominently during the qualification campaign for the 2015 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, making six appearances as Wales narrowly missed out on reaching the finals by a single point.

The goalkeeper began his career with Wigan Athletic, progressing through to the club’s Under-18 side before moving to Sweden to join Ytterhogdals IK. He spent more than two years with the Swedish club, later earning a move to Östersund, where he enjoyed a short spell before returning to Cymru in January 2020.

Since his return, Kelland has built up extensive domestic experience, featuring for Haverfordwest County, Carmarthen Town, Merthyr Town, Barry Town, and Penybont.

In July 2023, Kelland signed for Bala Town, where he enjoyed a standout campaign. He opened the season with four consecutive clean sheets in all competitions and went on to make 40 appearances, recording 15 clean sheets.

A highlight of his time at Maes Tegid came in the JD Welsh Cup, where he scored a remarkable goal from inside his own penalty area in a 4–1 victory over Caerau Ely whom he will now meet again in the JD Cymru South on the 1st of March at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue.

His performances at Bala also earned him selection for the Cymru C squad, where he played the full match and kept a clean sheet against England C at Stebonheath in March 2024.

A brief spell with National League South side Weston-super-Mare followed before he returned to Cymru in January 2025 to join Cardiff Met FC, since which time he has made 25 appearances in all competitions.

With opportunities in Cyncoed proving limited in recent months, Kelland joins the Seasiders until the end of the season as Craig Williams' men chase an immediate return to the JD Cymru Premier.

Manager Williams commented:

"Delighted to add Kelland into our squad for the rest of the season. A goalkeeper of his quality and experience doesn’t come around very often so when we knew he was potentially available, we did everything we could to bring him in.

His experience and pedigree in the Cymru Premier League and beyond speaks for itself and that will only help us as we look to have a positive end to our season.

Welcome Kell!"
