Aberystwyth Town FC are delighted to confirm receipt of a Tier One Licence from the FAW First Instance Body on Wednesday afternoon.

A Tier One licence is a prerequisite to compete in the Cymru Premier 2026/27 season and Clubs are assessed on the following criteria:

  • Sporting: Youth & Coaching

  • Infrastructure

  • Legal

  • Personnel & Administration

  • Financial

  • Football Social Responsibility

Aberystwyth Town FC Licensing Officer Thomas Crockett said:

“It's great to receive official recognition that off the field we have the foundations in place necessary for a return to the top table, when the opportunity provides itself.

“I would like to thank Hozefa Hussain for his work on the Player Medicals, the Board of Directors for carrying out crucial infrastructure work within Park Avenue, plus Tomos Roberts, Donald Kane and Tony Bates for an awful lot of hard work preparing the Club Accounts and ensuring they were audited within the necessary timescale".

I think this is a really positive update for the club because getting a Tier 1 licence isn’t something that just happens automatically, it reflects a lot of work behind the scenes across different areas. From what I understand, clubs are assessed on things like coaching, infrastructure, finances and administration, so achieving this shows there’s a strong foundation in place even if results on the pitch haven’t always gone the club’s way recently.  It’s also important because a Tier 1 licence is required to compete in the Cymru Premier, so it keeps that pathway open and gives the club a real chance to push forward again in the near future.  I also like how the post recognises the people working…
