Aberystwyth Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of standout defender and former Club Captain of Caersws FC, Harry Cottam.

Machynlleth-native Harry progressed through the Black and Greens' youth ranks and was a standout performer, and later skipper, for the Under-19s; during which time he formed a formidable partnership with Lee Jenkins, who has since ascended to the English Football League.
Harry later began his senior career with his hometown club, Machynlleth FC, before making the step up to the JD Cymru North with Caersws FC ahead of the 2022/23 season.
During his time with the Bluebirds, he has established himself as one of the division's most consistent and respected defenders. His performances earned both the Players' Player of the Season and Supporters' Player of the Season awards in his debut campaign, underlining the impact he made both on and off the pitch.
Harry’s leadership qualities were recognised when he was appointed club captain ahead of the 2024/25 season. He went on to lead Caersws to their first Montgomeryshire Cup triumph in 23 years, producing a Man of the Match performance in the final to cap a memorable campaign for the club.
His impressive form continued through the 2025/26 season as he was named Coaches' Player of the Season after another outstanding year at the heart of the defence. His performances also earned regional recognition, being selected to represent the JD Cymru North in the UEFA Regions' Cup at the conclusion of the season.
Still only entering the prime years of his career, Harry returns to Aberystwyth University Park Avenue having amassed more than 160 appearances in all competitions for Caersws FC.
A commanding presence, strong leader, and proven performer at Tier 2 level, Harry's return represents an exciting addition to the squad as the Black and Greens continue to build for the future.
Harry told us:
"Aber is such a prestigious club in the local area, and as a former academy player, I’m excited to come back and show how much I’ve learned over the last few years playing Tier 2 football.
I’ve played under Craig when he was manager at Caersws, as well as being his teammate for a year and a half. The conversations we had were very positive, and I’m excited to work with the staff involved and meet my new teammates.
My strengths are my leadership skills, consistency, and ability to maintain high standards throughout the season. I’m really looking forward to working with the staff and players, and hopefully we can kick on and have a great season."
Manager Craig Williams added:
"I’m delighted to welcome Harry back to Aberystwyth Town, having captained the Under-19s here six years ago.
He has continued to develop his leadership skills, captaining Caersws in recent years, and his personality and character will help drive our group this season.
Harry is a commanding presence, and his arrival further strengthens our defensive options. Welcome back, H!"
