JONNY COMMITS TO TOWN!

Aberystwyth Town Football Club are delighted to confirm that fan-favourite Jonathan Evans will return in Black and Green for the 2026/27 JD Cymru South season!

A product of the Club's academy, Jonny attracted the attention of Cardiff City in his youth and later represented Wales Schoolboys and the Wales Under-16 side while a Bluebird, competing in the Victory Shield. Following a spell with Accrington Stanley, Jonny returned to Ceredigion and has since become one of the most popular and recognisable figures associated with the Club.

Across multiple spells in Aber colours, Jonny has built a formidable legacy at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue, producing countless memorable moments along the way. Among the highlights are a dramatic 93rd-minute bicycle kick winner at Park Avenue, a penalty save away at Haverfordwest, his contribution to the Club's run to the Nathaniel MG Cup Final, and reaching the milestone of 150 appearances on the final day of the 2024/25 season while captaining the side.

Initially returning to the Club on loan from Briton Ferry Llansawel in September 2025, Jonny made an immediate impact, scoring five goals in his first three games — the pick of the bunch being a winning left-footed rocket from 25 yards at Afan Lido as Town ran out 1-0 winners in September.

During the 2025/26 season, Jonny made 21 appearances and added 10 goals to his Black and Green tally, including a crucial brace at home to Treowen Stars in February as Town rose to 3rd place after a rich vein of form.

Jonny now returns having amassed an impressive 171 appearances for the Club with his sights on further milestones and success in Black and Green.

Jonny commented:

"Last season was a massive disappointment considering the great position we put ourselves in, but with injuries and other factors off the pitch, the wheels just fell off as soon as we hit third. Hopefully this year, with a healthy squad, we can have a really good go again.

It’s great to see so many local lads signing this year, and hopefully it will give the club a chance to show the fans the talent on offer in the area.

I’m looking forward to another season, as there’s hopefully plenty of life left in the old bus driver yet!"
