PREVIEW: ATWFC VS CARDIFF MET WOMEN (H)
Aberystwyth Town Women return to Park Avenue this Sunday, 8th November, as they welcome Cardiff Met Women in the Round of 16 of the Genero Adran Trophy. With a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs, the Seasiders will be determined to make home advantage count and produce a strong performance against familiar opposition.
The Genero Adran Trophy provides another exciting opportunity for Aber to progress in cup competition, and Sunday's encounter promises to be a competitive afternoon between two sides who know each other well.
The two teams have already faced each other in the Genero Adran Premier this season, with Cardiff Met taking the points on both occasions. However, cup football brings a different challenge, and Aber will be hoping to put those results behind them and produce a positive response in front of their home supporters. The Seasiders will need to be organised, disciplined and clinical in front of goal, while making the most of the opportunities they create. With a quarter-final place at stake, every challenge, tackle and chance could prove important.
Cardiff Met will arrive knowing the threat Aber can pose, and the Black and Greens will be determined to rise to the occasion and give themselves the opportunity to continue their Trophy journey.
Before kick-off, Aberystwyth Town Women will hold a Remembrance service, followed by a moment of silence in honour of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Football brings communities together, and we look forward to paying our respects alongside players, staff and supporters from both clubs.
ONES TO WATCH
Aberystwyth Town Women – BELLE WILLIAMS
Spending the season with Aberystwyth Town from Wrexham AFC, Williams brings energy, determination and a strong work ethic to the squad. Having recently made her senior debut, she will be looking to build on that milestone and continue her development, making her an exciting player to watch as she looks to make her mark for the Seasiders.
Cardiff Met Women – GWEN JONES
A player Aber will need to watch closely is Cardiff Met's Gwen Jones. The young attacker made an immediate impact in the most recent meeting between the sides, scoring the decisive goal in Cardiff Met's 1-0 victory at Park Avenue.
