Aberystwyth Town Women begin their 2026/27 Genero Adran Premier campaign on Sunday the 6^th of September as they travel to The Rock to face reigning champions Wrexham AFC Women.

The Seasiders head into the opening fixture looking to make a positive start to the new season and lay down an early marker. Aberystwyth will take confidence from two highly competitive meetings with Wrexham in the Genero Adran Trophy and the first phase of last season. ATWFC will be looking to build on those performances when the two sides meet again.

Aberystwyth have also strengthened their squad ahead of the new campaign, adding quality and competition across the team as they look to take another step forward this season. The Seasiders will be hoping their summer recruitment can help them compete strongly throughout the campaign and make a positive start against one of the league's biggest challenges.

Wrexham AFC Women enter the fixture as reigning Genero Adran Premier champions and have already shown their quality this season, with significant additions to their squad helping them secure victory in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying rounds. They will provide a stern opening-day test for Aberystwyth, but the Seasiders will be relishing the opportunity to test themselves against the champions.

Amy Jenkins could prove pivotal for the Seasiders this weekend. The Aberystwyth captain and forward is one of the club's longest-serving players and brings a wealth of experience to the squad. Jenkins has already shown her ability to make an impact against Wrexham, scoring twice at The Rock last season. Jenkins’ intelligent movement, strong presence in the final third and ability to link play will be important as Aber look to threaten the Wrexham defence.

Wrexham AFC Women: KATIE BARKER

One player Aber will need to keep a close eye on is Katie Barker. The forward was Wrexham’s leading goalscorer last season as well as Genero Adran Player of the Season for 2025/26. Barker has already found the net in Wrexham’s UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign this season and will provide a significant attacking threat for the Seasiders to deal with.
