Before kick-off, both sides observed a minute's silence in memory of Steve Williams, who sadly passed away. Steve was a much-loved club photographer for Aberystwyth Town Women, and Aberystwyth wore black armbands as a mark of respect. He will be sadly missed by everyone connected with the club, and our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this difficult time.

The Seasiders produced a determined performance against their visitors and looked set to claim a hard-earned point before Cardiff Met found a breakthrough five minutes from time. The opening exchanges saw both sides compete for control, with Aberystwyth working hard to frustrate Cardiff Met and limit their opportunities in the final third.

Despite efforts from both teams, neither could find a way through during the opening 45 minutes, with the sides heading into the interval level at 0–0.

The second half continued in a similar fashion, as Aberystwyth remained organised and disciplined while looking for opportunities to threaten at the other end. As the game entered its closing stages, it appeared that the Seasiders would take a valuable point from the encounter. However, Cardiff Met broke the deadlock in the 85th minute when substitute Gwen Jones found the net. Aberystwyth pushed for a response in the closing minutes but were unable to find an equaliser, as Cardiff Met held on to secure all three points.

Despite the disappointment of the result, there were positives for the Seasiders to take from a committed defensive display against difficult opposition. However, the late goal proved decisive on an afternoon when the fine margins ultimately separated the two sides.
