Aberystwyth Town Football Club are delighted to welcome experienced goalkeeper Luke Evans to the club for the 2026/27 JD Cymru South season, joining from Guilsfield FC of the JD Cymru North.

30-year-old Rhayader-based Luke boasts extensive experience in football across Mid and North Wales. He joined Newtown AFC's Academy at 16 years old and represented Wales U18 Academies before later senior spells at Caersws and Rhayader.

Since the beginning of the 2021/22 season, he has amassed an impressive 142 appearances in the JD Cymru North between spells with Llanidloes and Guilsfield respectively.

At the end of the 2025/26 season, Luke was selected to represent the JD Cymru North in the UEFA Regions Cup vs their southern counterparts, playing the full first leg as the JD Cymru South ran out narrow 2-1 winners.

Now switching north for south, Luke arrives at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium with his sights set between the Seasiders' sticks!

Luke told us:

"I’ve been watching Friday night games at Park Avenue for many years and have seen some real legends play here, so to get the chance to represent the club will be a great feeling and something I’ve always wanted to do.

After speaking with Craig, I think we both decided that I would be a good fit for the club, and the club would be a good fit for me.

I think every player should go into a club believing they can make a positive difference. I hope I can do that and ultimately help get the club back to where it belongs in the Cymru Premier. I think it’s important that all of us embrace that responsibility and enjoy the challenge that comes with it."

Manager Craig Williams commented:

"Luke is a goalkeeper with plenty of experience at this level and has consistently performed to a high standard over a number of years. We're delighted to bring him to the club and I'm looking forward to working with him this season. Welcome, Luke!
