Aberystwyth Town Football Club has established a Foundation to administrate, control and oversee the club’s academies girls and boys, disability team and walking football. The main reason is finance and the ever-increasing cost of continuing to provide community sport. Every week between 300 – 400 children, young people, our disability team, and walking football players use Park Avenue. With the deduction of £90,000 last year announced by the FAW the club has struggled financially with the commitment of academy football. However, through hard work, determination we have limped through this season. This cannot continue. The Foundation aims to implement a positive and controlled financial structure throughout the academy, disability and walking football that will ensure the future community footballing development in Ceredigion. Lack of funding for the Academy teams will result in the end of competitive academy football within Ceredigion and the local area.
Aberystwyth Town Football Club is the largest sports club within the county of Ceredigion and is the heartbeat of the local community, providing all ages with a safe secure and controlled environment for all to enjoy. The club provides the local community with the opportunity of ground and pitch hire seven days a week all year round. We provide all our representative teams with the facility to train twice a week. We also are proud of our support to our disability team (Aber Stars and our Walking football team. The club also is heavily involved in the EFL Trust Fit Fans scheme. The club house plays a major part within the local community hosting weight watchers and university study groups, it is also a major venue for wakes, weddings and parties and provides the local businesses with a large area for conferences, presentations and is a registered voting pole station.
