Aberystwyth Town were delighted to name Neville Powell as their new First Team Manager in July 2017. Powell, who revalidated his A Licence in May 2017, replaced previous Manager Tony Pennock, who was released to rejoin Hull City in June.
Nev ensured legendary status as Manager at Bangor City FC after leading the Club to a Welsh Premier League title in 2010/11 and Welsh Cup Final wins in 2008, 2009 and 2010. He also earned five WPL Manager of the Month Awards and two WPL Manager of the Year Awards in 2010 and 2011, and won the Welsh League Cup as Manager of Connah's Quay in 1996.
Chairman Donald Kane said: "Nev's Stature within Welsh Football, his experience within the League, and the extensive contacts he has within the game marked him out as an outstanding candidate for the job, and as a Club we are delighted to have recruited him as First Team Manager. Nev and Assistant Manager Wayne Jones have already had extensive discussions with regards to preparations for next season and both look forward to working with each other, starting this week."
First Team Manager: Matthew Bishop
Aberystwyth Town FC were delighted to announce the appointment of Matthew Bishop as First Team Manager of the Club in March 2019.
Penrhyncoch-based Matthew is currently employed as a Senior National Coach Developer and he returned for a second spell in charge at Park Avenue after a season at the helm in 2016/17. He of course holds the prerequisite Pro Licence Certificate which ensures the Black and Greens comply with their UEFA Licensing requirements, and has signed a contract with the Club which runs until the end of the 2019/20 season, with the option of a further extension.
Bishop previously was Assistant Manager at Hereford FC when they reached a Wembley FA Vase Final and won the Midland Football League Premier Division, League Cup and Herefordshire Challenge Cup in 2015/6. Prior to that he coached Newport County to promotion into the Blue Square Premier in 2009/10 with a record points total, and has also worked with Aldershot Town, Wales Under 16s, 17s and England Under 20s sides.
45 year old Bish played eight games for the Black and Greens in their first two WPL seasons (1992-4) before moving to Bangor City, Conwy United and Rhayader, making a total of 61 WPL appearances, scoring once. Club Chairman Donald Kane said: "Matthew's appointment is a huge boost to the Club as a whole. Not only will he be an integral part of the First Team set up, but also his Coaching expertise will be invaluable at a time when we are looking to develop the Academy structure.” "We also hope that appointing a locally based Manager will be applauded by our supporters as we look to continue developing top talent through our Academy structure looking forward."
First Team Assistant Manager : Gavin Allen
Aberystwyth Town Football club were delighted to announce the appointment of black and greens' legend Gavin Allen as First Team Assistant Manager in September 2018. Gavin, who possesses an A-license Coaching Qualification, replaced Wayne Jones who resigned his position in June having already made his mark as First Team Coach, and his experience will be a welcome addition to the current squad and coaching staff at Park Avenue.
Gavin enjoyed a successful playing career with the seasiders - joining Meirion Appleton's Aber side in 1996 after his release from Tranmere Rovers, and he made a huge impression with 53 Welsh Premier League goals in his first two seasons at the Club. A Wales Under 21 International and prolific striker who created a brilliant partnership with Ryan Nicholls up front, Gavin went on to make a total of 238 appearances, scoring 113 goals in three spells at the club over a nine year period, and also played for Bangor City, Barry Town and Carmarthen Town.
After settling in the Town, Deiniolen born Gavin went on to serve as Assistant Manager with Penrhyncoch, before working as a coach with Aberystwyth University. He has also worked in coaching roles with Aber's Academy Squads, as well as Shrewsbury Town's Academy.
Physiotherapist: Megan Meredith
Aberystwyth based Megan recently completed a degree at Birmingham University and joined the Club as Matchday Physiotherapist in August 2018.

Name: Terry McCormick Squad Number: 1 Position: Goalkeeper Aberystwyth Town announced the signing of experienced Welsh Premier League goalkeeper Terry McCormick in August 2018. Terry made a total of 179 appearances in the league for Bala Town, Connah’s Quay Nomads and Rhyl, and made his debut against Cardiff Met.
McCormick started his career with Tranmere Rovers before moving to Marine, and then on to Congleton Town who play in the North West Counties League. He moved into the Welsh Premier League with Connah’s Quay Nomads in 2008 and went on to make over 50 appearances in all competitions between 2008 and 2010. He then joined Bala Town in 2011 and helped guide the Lakesiders to the Europa League play-off final.
After his spell at Bala, he moved on to Conwy Borough before moving back to Connah’s Quay in July 2013 – and was named in the Welsh Premier League Team of Phase One for the 2013/14 season. Terry has also spent time playing for Flint Town, Rhyl, Brickfield Rangers, Runcorn Town and Ashville FC.
Name: Wes Baynes Squad Number: 2 Position: Defender Wes, who spent the second half of last season playing at Llandudno, joined the club in July 2018, and also has previous experience playing for Wrexham, Altrincham, Chester City, Telford United, Colwyn Bay, Connah's Quay Nomads and Airbus UK Broughton.
Many of Town's supporters may remember Wes for his standout performances in the Welsh Premier League in recent seasons, including his winning goal in the 2016 Play Off Final which saw Connah's Quay Nomads beat Airbus UK Broughton to make it into the Europa League for the first time.
A versatile player who can play at right back or on the right wing, Wes is also known for having a powerful and accurate right foot, and his experience will undoubtedly be a great strength going into the season ahead. He's made over 70 appearances in the Welsh Premier League, and has also played four times in the Europa League Qualifying Round for Connah's Quay Nomads.
Name: Steff Edwards Squad Number: 3 Position: Defender / Midfielder Town’s supporters might remember Steff from his previous spell with the club back in 2010, when he made 32 appearances during the 2010/2011 season including two appearances in the Europa League First Round Play-Offs, scoring three goals during his stay at Park Avenue. Steff joins the black and greens for the 18/19 season with a wealth of Welsh Premier League experience – he’s a Welsh u18 international who started his career with Gresford Athletic, before joining Cefn Druids in 2008. Steff has also played in the Welsh Premier League with Welshpool Town (2009), Bala Town (2011-2014) and Newtown (2014-2016) and has made a total of six appearances in the Europa League Qualifying Round.
In addition to that, Steff has scored nine goals in 175 Welsh Premier League appearances, and he spent last season with Airbus UK Broughton FC in the Huws Gray Alliance.
Name: Allan Goodall Squad Number: 4 Position: Defender Aberystwyth Town signed experienced defender Allan Goodall on the eve of the JD Welsh Premier League 2018/9 season, and he made his debut at home to Llanelli in August 2018. Goodall can play in a central defensive or left back role, and brings a wealth of football league experience to Town's youthful side. He began his footballing journey at Bangor City back in 2001, playing a total of 91 games (scoring 10 goals) and making the Welsh Premier League Team of the Season back in 2004. Since then, he's made over 300 appearances in the Football League with Rochdale, Stockport County, Chesterfield, Luton Town, Grimsby Town and most recently Morecambe - scoring 20 goals in the process.
He spent the 2016/17 season at Altrincham of the National League North, and will be a valuable addition to Aber's squad for the forthcoming season.
Name:Ryan Wollacott Squad Number: 5 Position: Defender Ryan Wollacott joined the Black and Greens from Stourport Swifts in July 2016, and his previous clubs include Causeway United, Worcester Academy and Stourbridge Youth. He is currently studying Business and Finance at Worcester University.
Ryan, 22, featured in Aber's friendly games of 2016 and scored Town's first half opener at Caersws. A 6ft 1in central defender, he caught Matthew Bishop's eye as part of the Swifts side which beat Hereford FC in August 2015, and he went on to make 54 starts for the Midland League Premier Division side, scoring twice and earning 8 Man of the Match nominations.
Since joining Aber Ryan has made the Central Defensive berth his own with his strong and assured performances, making 61 WPL appearances in just two seasons. He was also part of the Town side which reached the Welsh Cup Final of 2018.
Name:Geoff Kellaway Squad Number: 7 Position: Midfielder / Forward Aberystwyth Town were delighted when Geoff Kellaway committed himself to the Black and Greens' WPL adventure for 2018/9.
Fan favourite Kellaway, whose blistering pace strikes fear into hearts of opposing Managers and defenders throughout the WPL, has been a major part of a Black and Greens attack force which notched over 140 goals between 2014-6, and his excellent form of 2014/5 did not go unnoticed. In April Sgorio confirmed that Geoff was joint top of the WPL Assist Table with 12, to add to his 10 Goals from 29 WPL games. His third goal in a hat trick at Bala, an audacious lob from outside the area, was nominated for Goal of the Month for March. Geoff was named on the bench in the WPL Team of the Season, and won the prestigious Aberystwyth Town First Team Supporters' Player of the Season at the Club Dinner in June 2015. Geoff began his career with Aberystwyth Town, making his debut during the 2003/04 season. He went on to make 141 appearances for the club, scoring 32 goals, and featured in the 2009 Welsh Cup final defeat to Bangor City. In May 2010, having been named in the 2009/10 Welsh Premier League team of the season, Kellaway joined Dandenong Thunder along with fellow Welsh Premier players Luke Sherbon and Jamie Reed. In August 2010, he was signed to a three month injury replacement contract with A-League side Melbourne Victory. He made his debut for the club as a substitute during a 2-2 draw with North Queensland Fury, becoming the 500th player to make an appearance in the A-League. He was released by the Victory and returned to Britain at the end of the 2010/11 season. In July 2011, he re-joined Aberystwyth Town and after one more season at Park Avenue, in June 2012 he moved to Llanelli, where he made his debut in the Europa League versus Kups in Finland. Geoff then moved to Carmarthen Town in January 2013 before returning to Park Avenue the following summer, where he has remained since, playing in the Welsh Cup Final of 2013/4, and the UEFA Europa League and Europa League Play Off Final in 2014/5.
Since making his debut for the Black and Greens in 2003/4 Geoff has played 296 WPL games scoring 68 goals, of which 267 appearances and 64 goals were for Aber. His superb service to the Welsh Premier League was recognised at the Annual Dinner in June 2018 when he was awarded the Clubman of the Year Award. You can watch the accompanying video here.

Name: Paulo Mendes Squad Number: 8 Position: Attacking Midfielder / Striker Portuguese-born Paulo has previous experience of playing in the Welsh system, after signing for Airbus UK Broughton back in 2016, and is a dynamic, versatile midfielder who can also play as a central striker.
Paulo spent time playing for Estrela de Amadora and Oeiras as a youngster in his native country of Portugal, before moving to the UK five years ago. He's also had spells playing for Vauxhall Motors, Nantwich Town, Colwyn Bay, Oxford City and most recently Darlington last season.
Name: Marc Williams Squad Number: 9 Position: Attacking Midfielder / Striker Aberystwyth Town Football Club were delighted to announce the signing of experienced and wily Welsh Premier League striker Marc Williams from Bangor City in January 2019.
Marc has spent periods with Conference sides Wrexham, Chester, Northwich Victoria and Kidderminster Harriers and has been capped for Wales at U17, U19, U21 and semi-professional levels. Aber's fans will most recently remember Marc for his spells with Llandudno and Cymru Alliance outfit Bangor City. Known for his prolific goal scoring record, the front man made 86 appearances for Wrexham between 2005 and 2011, scoring 17 goals in the process. He scored 14 goals in 60 games for Conference North side Chester City between 2011 and 2014, and more recently netted 25 goals in 76 games for Llandudno in the JD Welsh Premier League, guiding them to a Europa League qualification tie back in 2016/17.
Name: Declan Walker Squad Number: 10 Position: Defender Declan Walker joined Neville Powell's Squad in July 2017. Rated as one of the best right backs in the Welsh Premier League during three seasons starring as part of Powell's Bangor City side, Walker made 61 appearances and scoring twice before a cruel injury curtailed his career at Nantporth in 2016/7.
Warrington based Declan had previously represented the Republic of Ireland's Under 19s side and Wrexham in the Blue Square Premier League.
He spent a period on trial during Aber's pre season campaign of 2017 and gave the Club a huge boost by signing prior to the start of 2017/8. He was also the first Player to sign in 2018/9 and is now Club Captain.
Name: Carwyn Jones Squad Number: 11 Position: Defender Carwyn Jonesjoined the club in January 2019 from local Cymru Alliance outfit Penrhyncoch. He originally hails from Harlech and is a strong defender, known for his ability on the ball. Squad number 11.
Name: Ryan Edwards Squad Number: 14 Position: Midfielder Aberystwyth Town Football Club signed attacking midfielder Ryan Edwards from Llandudno in June 2018, and he adds a wealth of experience to Aber's squad having previously played in the Welsh Premier League for The New Saints, Connah's Quay Nomads, Cefn Druids, Bala Town and Airbus UK Broughton.
Ryan, who hails from Northop, is a pacey and skilful attacking midfielder who can play anywhere across the midfield or front line. He started his career with Connah's Quay Nomads back in 2011, coming through the ranks with the Nomads' academy and forging his way into the first team by the 2013/14 season. Having excelled at first team level, Ryan's brilliant form caught they eye of The New Saints, who opted to sign the midfielder on a full time contract in January 2014.
Regarded as one of the best young prospects in the league, Ryan played a pivotal role in The New Saints' world record breaking 27 consecutive league victories during the 2016/17 season, before signing for Bala Town in 2017 where he made 12 appearances for the Lakesiders. Ryan also spent a period on loan with Airbus UK Broughton in late 2017, before joining Llandudno ahead of the 2017/18 season - where he made a total of 14 appearances. Despite being just 24 years old, Ryan has already made 99 JD Welsh Premier League appearances, scoring 10 goals in the process. Known for being a great athlete and having an excellent work rate, Ryan is sure to become a fans favourite at Park Avenue in no time.
Name: Lee Jenkins Squad Number: 15 Position: Defender Young starlet Lee Jenkins signed a 2-year contract with Aberystwyth Town in August 2018. At just 17 years of age, Lee is one of the club’s most promising talents, and has already broken into the first team squad – making his full JD Welsh Premier League debut in Town’s home victory against Llandudno in August 2018.
Ceredigion-based Lee played a pivotal role in the success of Bari Morgan's u19's double-winning squad last season and has produced a number of impressive performances for Aber's development sides in recent seasons. Despite being just 16 years old, he already stands at 6 feet tall, and is a no-nonsense defender with a physical presence who also possesses the technical ability to play the ball to feet.
Lee was selected to play for Wales' u18 School Boys side last season, where he excelled in the central defensive position against old enemy England. Having impressed with the first team in pre-season, Lee was rewarded with his first JD Welsh Premier League start against Llandudno and was absolutely outstanding in helping Aber’s back four keep a clean sheet against the North Wales outfit.
Name: Harry Cottam Squad Number: 16 Position: Midfielder
Harry joined the Senior Squad from Carno in January 2019. The Machynlleth man also plays for Bari Morgan's u19's side and more recently gained senior experience playing with Carno in the Spar Mid Wales League. Squad number 16.
Name:Mathew Jones Squad Number: 17 Position: Midfielder Local boy Mathew Jones joined the Club in August 2017.
18 year old Mathew attended Comins Coach and Penglais Schools and is the son of Richie "Gas" Jones who played for Town's Reserve side for years and is a loyal supporter of the Black and Greens. He was a key member of Shrewsbury Town's Youth Team which enjoyed a good FA Youth Cup run last season reaching the fourth round before being knocked out by Premier League side Sunderland, and joined Aber on his release from the Shrews last summer.
Jones made a keen impression in pre-season 2017 with some full blooded performances in Central Midfield and was rewarded with squad number 17. In his first season with the Club Matthew was part of the Town side which reached the Welsh Cup Final of 2018, and he was announced in June 2018 as the first recipient of a Football Club Scholarship at Aberystwyth University. Name:Jamie McDaid Squad Number: 19 Position: Midfielder Jamie is a pacey right winger from Caernarfon who joined the club from Holyhead Hotspur in January 2019, having previously spent time at Holywell Town and Bangor City. Welsh-speaking Jamie has experience of playing in the Welsh Premier League with the Citizens and also has a wealth of Cymru Alliance playing time under his belt. Squad number 19.
Name: Harri Rowe Squad Number: 20 Position: Defender/Midfielder Harri was a member of Bari Morgan’s Welsh Premier Development League Championship winning team in 2017/8 and was promoted to the First Team Squad for 2018/9.
Name: Niall Coleridge Squad Number: 22 Position: Midfielder Naill was a member of Bari Morgan’s Welsh Premier Development League Championship winning team in 2017/8 and was promoted to the First Team Squad for 2018/9. He spent some time at Aberaeron in December and January 2018/9 but returned before the end of the transfer window.
Name: Liam Berner Squad Number: 23 Position: Midfielder Liam was a member of Bari Morgan’s Welsh Premier Development League Championship winning team in 2017/8 and was promoted to the First Team Squad for 2018/9.
Name: Ashley Ruane Squad Number: 24 Position: Striker Aberystwyth Town Football Club signed prolific striker Ashley Ruane from Colwyn Bay in August 2018. Known for his goalscoring ability in the Welsh Premier League, Ashley has spent time at Rhyl, Connah's Quay Nomads and Cefn Druids as well as Warrington Town and Colwyn Bay. Ashley joined the black and greens having spent the start of this season playing for Colwyn Bay, scoring twice in their away victory at Atherton Collieries. He first moved to the Welsh Premier League in 2015 when he joined Rhyl from Warrington Town, before transferring to Connah's Quay Nomads in July 2015. After spending a loan period with Cefn Druids, Ashley made the permanent move to The Rock in January 2017, and spent last season playing for Huw Griffiths' side - producing notable performances against the black and greens.
He's scored a total of 33 goals in the Welsh Premier League, making over 100 appearances - and brings a wealth of experience to Park Avenue that's sure to bolster Town's strike force and provide an added element of pace and physicality up front. He made his debut at home to Llanelli Town in August 2018.
Name:Joe Phillips Squad Number: 27 Position: Midfielder 22 year old winger Joe Phillips signed for Aberystwyth Town in July 2017.
He played for the same Stourport Swifts side as Ryan Wollacott, for whom he scored 16 goals from 46 appearances in 2016/7.
Joe made some prominent contributions to Town's pre-season of 2017, not least when he scored a terrific goal with a low drive against Hull City Under 23s in August. He became a permanent fixture in the First Team Squad of 2017/8, scoring a perfect hat trick against Connah's Quay in January 2018 (highlights here). Joe was part of the Town side which reached the Welsh Cup Final in 2018 and his attacking flair is expected to thrill Black and Green supporters further in 2018/9.

Name: Alec Williams Squad Number: 11 Position: Midfield
Left-sided midfielder Alec will be a familiar face to Town's supporters, after playing four times against the black and greens for Prestatyn Town last season. Alec moved to Prestatyn from Rhyl in the summer of 2008, and spent six seasons at Bastion Gardens, with a brief spell at Denbigh Town in between.
He's another experienced Welsh Premier League player to join the squad - with 5 goals in 46 appearances in the league so far. He brings additional pace an energy to the team, and is also known for his versatility after making appearances at left back, left midfield and central midfield for Prestatyn last season.
Alec's wonder strike against Connah's Quay Nomads last season was nominated for November's Goal of the Month competition, and you can view it here.
Alec was released from the Club in Autumn 2018.
Name: Leigh Jenkins Squad Number: 12 Position: Goalkeeper Leigh has been the regular first-team goalkeeper at Penrhyncoch since they were promoted into the Huws Gray Alliance, and has played for his hometown club throughout his career up until this point.
He was voted Penrhyn's Supporters Player of the Season in 2016 and 2017.
Leigh made his debut for the Black and Greens in their 2018/9 Season Opener at home to Llandudno but re-joined Penrhyncoch in Autumn 2018.
Name:Jack Rimmer Squad Number: 6 Position: Midfielder Aberystwyth Town FC Academy product Jack Rimmer joined the first team squad for 2015/16, and made an impression in the 9 WPL appearances he amassed in his debut season.
The highpoint was probably a stunning winning goal scored at Haverfordwest from out near the touchline on Boxing Day 2015. Jack is a Sixth Former at Ysgol Gyfun Penweddig and has an impeccable sporting background, having been invited to join Liverpool's Academy at age 10, Birmingham City's Academy at 11, and having trials at Stoke City at 14. Jack represented Central Wales in the Cymru Cup of 2013 and the Welsh National/Regional Development squads in 2012 and 2013. He has also played for Penweddig and Ceredigion Schools throughout his school years, and played for Central Wales Boys in 2014 and again in 2015 where Jack captained the side. Jack, a Centre Back or Midfielder by trade, had been with Bow Street since 2011 but importantly has also been part of Aberystwyth Town's Academy sides from the Under 12 age group onwards and was in the side that reached the Welsh Final in 2012.
Jack spent the first part of the 2016/17 season on loan at Penrhyncoch in search of first team football, amassing 8 appearances for the Cymru Alliance side. He later returned to Park Avenue and after being a part of the unsuccessful Welsh Cup Final Squad of 2018, he returned to Newtown in triumph the following day to Captain and score the winning penalty for Aber's Under 19s side as they won the Club's first ever National League Championship, the Welsh Premier Development League.
Jack left the Club to join Penrhyncoch in January 2019.
Name: Porya Ahmadi Squad Number: 9 Position: Striker Iranian-born Poryais a clinical and mobile striker with previous Welsh Premier League experience; after spending spells with Bangor City and Rhyl between 2015 and 2017.
He was Bangor's top goal scorer in the 2015/16 season - netting 8 goals in 29 appearances, and started his footballing career with Sheffield United's Academy. Porya, or 'Rio' as he's also known, has also spent time playing for Chorley, Droylsden, New Mills, and most notably Salford City, where he scored hat-tricks in consecutive games back in 2014.
Rio left the Club to join Newtown in January 2019.
Nashawn is a pacey and energetic striker, who spent a brief spell with the black and greens when he joined from Aberystwyth University back in 2016, and has since played for Llanfair United and Penrhyncoch in the Huws Gray Alliance.
He's most fondly remembered for his brilliant goal against Rhyl at Cae Baker last season, and he'll be looking for a similar impact upon joining the squad at Park Avenue.
