Connah’s Quay Nomads v Aberystwyth Town
Aber Town look to bounce back from a disappointing performance last weekend and regain their Top Six spot with a positive result away to Cymru Premier Vice Champions Connah’s Quay Nomads on the evening of Friday 13th (ko 7.45pm).
This game is viewed as one of the toughest on the fixture Calendar, but Aber can take heart from their last away match when they beat Cefn Druids by two goals to one fourteen days ago. Connah’s Quay themselves also managed a single goal victory over the Druids last night thanks to Priestly Farquharson’s goal.
With six points from their opening five matches Aber sit in seventh place, level on points with sixth placed Caernarfon Town, so their destiny is still firmly in their own hands, and a good run in the Autumn could be inspired by a big result this weekend. Town’s forwards Marc Williams and Luke Boundford are bang in form, but Manager Matthew Bishop will be looking for a defensive improvement after losing 2-1 to Airbus last weekend. Geoff Kellaway, Tom Price and Joe Phillips all appeared from the bench and helped the Black and Greens to a strong finish on Saturday, so will be pushing for spots in Friday’s starting line up.
Relentless Quay are of course formidable opposition, and they have made headlines already this season with notable results against Scottish opposition both in the UEFA Europa League and Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup. They currently lie fifth in the Cymru Premier, three points ahead of Aber after two wins and three draws. Aberystwyth narrowly lost 2-1 at Deeside Stadium in August 2018, and will be aiming to improve on that score this time around.
Kick off at is at 7.45pm, and Deeside Stadium is on the main A548 through Connah's Quay on the left hand side travelling in the direction of Flint, inside the grounds of Coleg Cambria. The postcode is CH5 4BR. Be lucky on Friday 13th!
