Cambrian & Clydach BGC v Aberystwyth Town
Aberystwyth Town kick off their 2019/20 season on Saturday with an Nathaniel MG Cup Second Round visit to last season's Runners Up Cambrian & Clydach Vale Boys and Girls Club.
Matthew Bishop's men have had a varied and interesting pre season programme, beating Llanidloes Town and Tregaron Turfs, drawing with Llantwit Major and losing out to strong English outfits Gloucester City and Crewe Alexandra, but after a month's hard work, the real thing starts in just 48 hours time.
The core of last season's squad has remained, with fans favourite Terry McCormick re-signed in goal, along with defenders Wes Baynes, Steff Edwards, Ryan Wollacott and Lee Jenkins. The additions of Stuart Jones and Ben Birch will certainly strengthen Aber's defensive unit.
In midfield supporters can expect the likes of Ryan Edwards, Paulo Mendes and Matthew Jones to keep the ship steady so that Geoff Kellaway, Marc Williams, Joe Phillips plus new signings Alex Boss and local lad Richie Ricketts can support the forwards.
Aber's forward line also looks stronger this season with top scorer Geoff Kellaway joined by Rio Ahmadi (suspended for the first two matches), Luke Boundford and Edmilson Pedro Vaz, who will all be looking to bang the goals in at regular intervals.
Town's opponents will be fully respected having dumped the Black and Greens out of the League Cup last season, and having finished second in the Welsh League. They thrilled Welsh football fans with their exploits in both the League and Welsh Cup last season and Aber will have to bet at their best from the off to prevent a similar story in 2019/20.
Kick off at the scenic M&P Group 3G Stadium in Cambrian Industrial Estate, Clydach Vale is at 2.30pm, and your postcode for the match is CF40 2XX. The ground is situated just 10 miles north of M4 Junction 34, accessed from the A4119 road. With travelling conditions set to be challenging supporters are advised to leave extra time for their journeys. Repeat or Revenge? See you up the Rhondda valley hopefully for some Revenge!
