Aberystwyth Town's record appearance holder Ken Williams will play in the Leave Your Mark game on Friday 13th May, and you could play alongside him!
Ken, bottom left in the team photo from the mid 1980s (left), had an amazing 642 game career in Black and Green which is summarised in Dai Pugh's Updated History of the Club thus: "Ken Williams, equally excellent at full back and central midfield, was a regular in the first team between 1974/5 and 1991. The blonde bomber played a record 642 games for the Black and Greens, scored 45 goals, captained the team for four seasons and made two appearances for the Welsh non League team. A model of consistency on the field, marvellously two footed, strong in the tackle and a powerful runner with the ball, Ken Williams is regarded as one of Aber's outstanding post-war players."
Last week we revealed Meirion Appleton and Tomi Morgan as our two Managers, and Green Legends Donald Kane, Kevin Morrison and Glyndwr Hughes are also in. We will be revealing further names this week.
You can bid money to play in the Leave Your Mark game, and the highest 20 bidders will be eligible to play, irrespective of ability, on receipt of payment by Friday 6th May at the latest. The deadline for bids is 5pm on Friday 29th April, and they can be made by email to abertownfc@live.co.uk, with a contact name, address and phone number, or by text to Club Marketing Director Thomas Crockett on 07717 470301. Minimum bids will be £100, and in the event of a tie a draw will be made.
