Dafabet Welsh Premier Leagiue
Saturday 1st October (ko 2.30pm) Aberystwyth Town v The New Saints (at Latham Park, Newtown) Hosting Dafabet Welsh Premier League Champions and Champions elect The New Saints would be considered a tough assignment at the best of times. With the Saints on a run of ten consecutive domestic wins, and with Town Talismen Geoff Kellaway and Luke Sherbon out injured, anything other than an away win on Saturday would be a major surprise to the pundits. However ... Aberystwyth Town have come as close as anyone to getting a result against the Champions in the Season Opener at Park Hall, when at 2-1 down Lewis Coyle's 89th minute goalbound header threatened to earn them an unlikely point - until TNS keeper Paul Harrison intervened. The Black and Greens squad was strengthened today by the out of the blue capture of ex Swansea City and Wales defender Dan Alfei, and his debut will add to the intrigue on Saturday afternoon, and influential front runner Luke Borrelli returns from suspension. If the Seasiders side which overpowered Carmarthen Town by five goals to nil at Richmond Park just nine short days ago turns up we could have a game on our hands. The game also marks the last of Aber's run of ten League games away from Park Avenue, and Town's next Dafabet WPL game, in 15 days time, back home at Park Avenue will coincide with the opening of their 3G Facility, and a return of ten or more points from this run would be respectable indeed. Matthew Bishop's men have the opportunity to head into a run of six home games in a row in the highest of spirits, if they can get a result at Latham Park on Saturday. Kick off is at 2.30pm. Come up the A44 to watch and we'll give you a smile! Comments are closed.
