Aberystwyth Town First Team Player Coach Antonio Corbisiero has been reflecting on the Black and Greens’ home defeat to Airbus at the weekend last Sunday, and speaking with Aber Town's Youtube Channel, he was naturally disappointed with the outcome of the game, writes Matthew Wallace. “It was a very disappointing performance. We played well in the first half and created a lot of opportunities. We dominated the first half but you have to take those opportunities and see the half out.” Despite the disappointing scoreline, there were positives to take from the afternoon’s work: “There were positives to take from the game today. Some of the boys put on some great performances but its individual mistakes that have costs us which has been the same for all the season really. Collectively as a team we’ve done well but we need to cut down on the individual mistakes” However, it cannot be denied that this result is a big blow to the Seasiders’ chances of grabbing second spot in the league. “We really needed the three points today to pile on the pressure in the hunt for second and third place. I think we’re now looking at second place being out of reach. We’d need a lot of results going our way and us winning our remaining games. “ But with three games left ahead of the playoffs, Corbisiero was keen to emphasise that this result must be put to the back of the mind. “The boys have been fantastic throughout the season and addressed themselves well. We’ve got to concentrate now on finishing as high as we can. If we get it then great, if we don’t then it’s not a problem. We’ll have to work our way through the playoff and get into Europe that way.” With the Welsh Premier League taking a break this weekend to allow the Welsh Cup Semi Finals to take place, Aber now take a timely break from activities before facing their final three games of the League Programme, away to TNS on Friday 10th April, at home to Bala on the 17th and away to Port Talbot on Sunday 26th. Aber’s guaranteed fourth spot means that should they fail to qualify for Europe directly they will have a home game in the Play Off Semi Finals the weekend of May 9/10th. Aberystwyth Town would like to congratulate Luke Sherbon on being nominated and winning the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Player of the Month for March. The midfielder has earned his award after showing the league and his fellow Aber Town team mates sheer determination, hard work and fantastic form in the month of March. Sherbon was on the score sheet during the 3-3 draw away at rivals Newtown AFC, and could have very nearly had a second goal in the game after a superb turn and volley smashed the underside of the bar and post. Following the Newtown game, Aber manager Ian Hughes revealed his delight on Sherbon’s recent excellent performances despite playing in an unusual striker position. Speaking to Martin Smith for our official YouTube channel, Hughes revelled “Luke can do that; good players can play anywhere that’s what people say. Luke Sherbon can play anywhere as a centre half or as a number nine, he can play anywhere on the pitch. He was unlucky not to get the second goal when he hit the post, so that shows he’s a threat and gives us another option upfront.” The Aberystwyth Town official YouTube channel is the place to watch our exclusive post match interviews following the men’s first team games. We would also like to congratulate The New Saints manager Craig Harrison on winning his fifth Manager of the Month award of the season. To win the award once is fantastic, so to win it five times in a season is an outstanding achievement.
