Aberystwyth Town are delighted to announce the signing of defender David Thompson from Bangor City. 28 year old Liverpudlian Thompson is an experienced left footed defender known for his buccaneering forward runs, and he was famously part of Bala Town’s Welsh Cup Winning side of 2017. In the Welsh system David has also played for Rhyl, Llandudno and most recently Bangor City for whom he signed in the summer. His know how at Welsh Premier level will be a boost to Town’s defensive credentials in 2020. Less well known is that David is also a talented musician and singer who performed an accomplished solo set at the Welsh Premier League AGM in June 2017. Everyone at Park Avenue welcomes David to Aberystwyth Town – and he will go straight into the Squad for this evening’s match at Caernarfon Town, wearing number 3. Aberystwyth Town are delighted to announce the signing of influential midfielder Ilan Hughes from Ruthin Town. Ilan has caught the eye for a number of seasons at Ruthin where he was Club Captain, and impressed the Black and Greens Management Team in their recent Welsh Cup tie against the Denbighshire side with his work rate, technique and passing ability. He famously scored from the half way line for Ruthin in a televised Welsh Cup tie at Llandudno two years ago (a goal you can view here), and will be another strong addition to Aber’s midfield after the capture of Pavel Vieira yesterday. A 26 year old Welsh speaker from Corwen, Ilan will be a popular addition to the Black and Greens roster and will wear the number 19 shirt. Croeso i Goedlan y Parc Ilan gan bawb yng Nghlwb Peldroed Tref Aberystwyth! Aberystwyth Town are delighted to announce the signing of Guinea-Bissau International Pavel Vieira from Bangor City. Midfielder Pavel is a well-known character having played in the Welsh Premier League for Bangor City, then in the Cymru Alliance for Airbus UK Broughton – with whom we won the 2019 League Title, before rejoining Bangor this summer. He has made 19 appearances for the Citizens this season, scoring twice. Born in Guinea-Bissau, 27 year old Vieira spent his youth career in Portugal and made his professional debut for S.C. Olhanense in the Primera Liga. On 10 August 2011 he made his debut for the Guinea-Bissau national team, a 4–1 friendly win over Equatorial Guinea at the Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon. He subsequently played for a series of Clubs in Portugal before joining Bangor in 2016. Pavel’s transfer has been confirmed by the FAW and he will be allocated shirt number 5 in time to join the Black and Greens squad for tomorrow night’s game at Caernarfon Town. Everyone at Aberystwyth Town FC welcomes Vieira to Park Avenue. Bem-vinda Pavel! JD Cymru Premier Friday 10th January (ko 7.45pm) Caernarfon Town v Aberystwyth Town After a ten day break the Black and Greens will be raring to go as they kick off their 2020 JD Cymru Premier campaign away to Top Six chasing Caernarfon Town on Friday evening, on Matchday 21. Aber already know they will be competing in the Play Off Conference after the split, and with 11 points to make up on seventh placed Cefn Druids (as things stand), positive results are needed as soon as possible. Town’s home defeat to Newtown a week last Monday felt desperately unfair, with the Robins’ fortuitous winner coming deep into injury time, after it seemed that Mathew Jones’ 83rd minute penalty had earned Aber a deserved point. Having lost only 1 of their last 6 away games, and that to the Champions TNS, Mathew Bishop’s men will travel with confidence of achieving a positive result. Friday’s match however promises to be extremely difficult with the Cofis needing a point to get over the line and confirm their JD Cymru Premier Championship Conference spot. After a season of impressive consistency, a run of injuries have left Sean Eardley’s men with one point from their last three games – however their home record is impressive, backed as they are by a vociferous home crowd. The Seasiders will be wary of a strong mid Wales influence on Caernarfon’s side, with Jamie Breese from Llanidloes and Alex Ramsay from Llanfyllin banging in and keeping out the goals respectively. Onetime Black and Green star Darren Thomas is a huge influence, though Jamie Crowther is sidelined after an injury. Kick off at the Oval is at 7.45pm and directions can be found on Caernarfon Town’s excellent website here: https://caernarfontownfc.co.uk/contactus.aspx. Join the Black and Greens Bandwaggon for a Rollercoaster 2020! Aberystwyth Town FC - Squad Update
The international transfer window opened yesterday and atfc.org.uk can confirm that a number of Players have moved on with the Club's blessing. Adam Hughes and Tom Price's loan periods came to an end yesterday as planned, and both have returned to their Parent Clubs, The New Saints and Swansea City respectively. Meanwhile Alex Boss and Steff Edwards will be freed from their registrations to sign for other Clubs in North Wales. Aberystwyth Town FC thanks Adam, Tom, Alex and Steff for their contributions and wishes them all the best for the future. Black and Greens supporters can be reassured that the Club will replace these Players in due course, and new signings will be announced once the paperwork is completed. |
