Manager Ian Hughes said: "Of course we wish Rhydian all the best as his Career develops. Unfortunately in a very competitive midfield last season we were unable to offer him a regular start, however he is still only 19 and there are very few players of his age playing in the Welsh Premier League, let alone in the Top Six." "We know that he did very well on loan at Rhayader Town in the Cymru Alliance last season, and there aren't many 19 year olds who have so many WPL appearances under their belt. He has a bright future in the game." Rhydian made his debut for the Black and Greens as a 16 year old in the 2011/12 season and scored a headed goal at Afan Lido which was vital in ensuring Town's survival that year (please see that goal on the link below): http://www.s4c.cymru/sgorio/e_/gem/lido-afan-aberystwyth/ He went on to make 43 WPL appearances in total over the past four seasons, scoring twice from Central Midfield, and the Club was proud when he was selected to play for Wales' Semi Pro Under 18 side against Ireland in 2013. Aberystwyth Town FC thanks Rhydian, and his parents Ray and Nia for their contribution to the Club on and off the field over the past few years, and we hope they all remain close to the Club in the future. Aberystwyth Town FC are delighted to announce that the Club's Annual Dinner will take place on Saturday 13th June in the John Charles Lounge, with guests invited to arrive at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. All of the Black and Greens sides will receive awards on the evening - the First Team, Under 19s, Ladies and Disability Sides - and the prestigious Supporters Player of the Season Award will be revealed. Admission on the night will cost £20 (including an evening meal courtesy of Ruth's Kitchen), and places can be reserved by leaving a message with Club Treasurer Emyr James on 07415 472683. The Corbettsports Welsh Premier League AGM and Annual Dinner will be held tomorrow at Llety Parc, Aberystwyth, and will be attended by a number of Club Officials and First Team Players. The Main Interest for Town Supporters will be the Award for WPL Player of the Season, with 30 goal Chris Venables shortlisted along with Jason Oswell of Newtown and Tom Field of Airbus. We're all keeping our fingers crossed that after another superb season in Black and Green Venners retains the Award he won last year. The AGM will also host the First Round Draw for the Word Cup, with matches to be played in the second week of September. We understand that the WPL Fixture List for 2015/6 will be released on Tuesday 23rd June. Aberystwyth Town FC wishes bonne voyage to one of its most popular Club Volunteers Martin Smith, who flies out to New England in the USA tomorrow to help run a series of Summer Camps. Until recently Martin (photographed right with Phil Thomas) a lifelong Derby County fanatic, was a Marketing Student at Aberystwyth University and last year he participated in the Student Marketing Competition organised with the Marketing Department. This Autumn Martin become much more actively involved in the Club, fulfilling a number of roles. Having joined the Club's Marketing Committee he started off with some Performance Analysis, before singlehandedly creating and maintaining Aberystwyth Town's Youtube Channel. As if that was not enough Martin also provided an extremely popular twitter feed during matches, and also designed and transferred Aberystwyth Town's new website which went live last week. He also helped out as Media Officer and was an indispensable part of the Club's Marketing Strategy last season which saw average attendances at Park Avenue rise again by 17%. Black and Greens Marketing Director Thomas Crockett said: "We are of course sad to lose Martin but we wish him well in the States. He can leave safe in the knowledge that he has left quite a legacy in his eight months with the Marketing Committee. A paid employee would have been proud of achieving what Martin has in a short space of time, so to have done all this as a Volunteer really is quite remarkable. I have no doubt that he will find full time employment in the Football Industry in time. Good luck Martin from us all - you will of course be welcome back on your return in September!". |
