After coming on as a sub at Caersws and Caernarfon, he has started up front in Aber's last two pre season friendlies, and scored Town's opener at Porthmadog, with an instinctive near post finish to a Geoff Kellaway cross. The imposing Coyle has certainly made an impression thus far with his arial prowess and ability to hold the ball up, and everyone at Park Avenue looks forward to watching him continue his progress with Aberystwyth Town this season. Pre Season Friendly
Sunday 31st July TNS Ladies 0 Aberystwyth Town Ladies 1 Aberystwyth Town Ladies played their first friendly at Division One Midland Team TNS on Sunday and came away with a hard fought victory courtesy of a Tanya Wylde penalty after debutant Sophie Cook had been upended by Welsh International keeper Delyth Morgan in the 62 minute. TNS started brightly and put the Aber rear guard under pressure from the off but resolute and disciplined defending restricted the hosts to only a few chances. As the half wore on another debutant Helen Evans along with Tanya Wylde began to take control and Ffion Wyn Roberts was unlucky with a few efforts just off target. The last quarter of the first half however belonged to the hosts and despite the majority of possession and one gilt edge opportunity from a free kick the score remained 0-0 at half time. The second half was a much more even affair with Aber giving a good account of themselves with Amy Jenkins’ firing wide on a couple of occasions and with confidence growing Aber took the lead after a spell of good pressure resulted in a penalty which Wylde despatched with aplomb to give the visitors the lead. Aber were now on top and Jenkins’ effort hit the bar but back came TNS and good handling by Katie Christopher in goal and Sian Evans, Josie Pugh being dominant TNS were finding it difficult to break through. Alys Davies and Sian Williams also making their debuts as were Hannah Davies and Rachel Hill who were also in on the act and produced a sterling performance. A hard fought victory away from home and a clean sheet along with some 5 players unavailable bodes well for the friendly trip to Port Talbot next Saturday for Aber Ladies. The match provided a good workout for the Ladies who are gearing up for the start of the campaign on Sep 4th at home against Cyncoed Ladies.
