Dafabet Welsh Premier League
Tuesday 20th December (ko 8pm) Aberystwyth Town v Bangor City Following five goals, two clean sheets and two wins in a row things are looking pretty rosy in the garden at Aberystwyth Town at the moment – and things could get even better on Tuesday evening as Bangor City are the latest visitors to the WPL’s best attended ground, Park Avenue. The Black and Greens’ Squad will naturally be on a high after Friday’s strong performance in winning 3-0 at Cefn Driuds, and a lively and enjoyable bus journey home after the game demonstrated their togetherness as much as the battling performance. Goals from Geoff Kellaway, Luke Borrelli and Kostya Georgievsky allied to Chris Mullock's penalty save made the difference on the night, but to put Friday’s victory into some context, both Connah’s Quay and Bala failed to win at the Rock, and it took a last minute winner for Bangor to take all three points earlier in the season – so a 3-0 win was really above par. What is more, Sam Rodon returns from suspension on Tuesday to bolster the squad and Town also hope Ricky Watts is able to return to the Squad from compassionate leave. Llandudno’s defeat yesterday to Bala has opened the doors of destiny for Aber, and means they will be in sixth place in the Dafabet WPL if they win their two games in hand, the first of which is on Tuesday. Bangor City have had a change of manager in the past few weeks and snatched a win with a last minute winner at home to lowly Airbus yesterday, but for Black and Greens fans Tuesday night is all about Matthew Bishop’s exciting squad and what they can do to keep their record going through the most definitive time of the season. Bishop told Aber Town’s Youtube Channel: “Psychologically it’s a big win for us, and we need to carry it through to the next five games. The fact that we won ugly (on Friday) is really important because it shows the players can do it." Looking forward to Tuesday Town’s Manager said: “We’re going to have a really tough game against Bangor with their new manager and it’s going to be a good challenge for us as a group.” Kick off under the temporary floodlights is at the slightly later time of 8pm, and with the WPL’s two best supported teams going head to head a memorable occasion is guaranteed. Admission is £6 for Adults, £4 Concessions and £1 fir Kids, Give yourself an early Christmas present and come along. Comments are closed.
