Dafabet Welsh Premier League Saturday 10th September (kick off 2.30pm) Aberystwyth Town v Carmarthen Town (at Newtown FC) Aberystwyth Town will have a spring in their step going into Saturday's Dafabet Welsh Premier League game against Carmarthen Town after last night's derby victory over Penrhyncoch. Chris Jones' tremendous 35 yard strike, followed by Ryan Wollacott's powerful header earned the Black and Greens a Second Round tie in the Nathaniel MG Cup on a big occasion at Cae Baker in front of a crowd of 415, and the result is sure to boost the Players' confidence going into Saturday's match. Due to ongoing work laying a 3G Surface at Park Avenue, Aberystwyth Town will play this home match at Newtown FC - the first time this has happened since June 2004, when Aber held Latvia side Dinaburg Daugavpils to a 0-0 draw in the Inter Toto Cup. Opponents Carmarthen Town had to kick their heels this week having received a bye to the League Cup Second Round, and they sit just behind Aber in the WPL table, having won one, drawn two and lost two of their matches so far. Interestingly this will be their third away game at Latham Park in succession, having previously lost 4-2 to Newtown and held Bala Town to a 0-0 draw at the home of the Robins. Both of Aber's League wins this season have come on 3G pitches, at Airbus and Llandudno, so a return to a synthetic surface may yet suit Matthew Bishop's men. A hoard of Aberystwyth Town supporters travelling over Plynlimon to turn Latham Park Green for the afternoon will also help! The Supporters Coach will leave Park Avenue at 12pm: consider yourself invited! Comments are closed.
